Maryland...A Brady Bill Top 5 State /puke
I've taken the liberty of using Myspace to "get the word out". I've got the following Blog/Bulletin ready to go and want the opinions of those of you who've been at this a long time. Understanding that mine already borders on too long here goes:

Hello Friends!

I know that we all have various political leanings and we may differ in our opinions of many things, but I know something that nearly all of us hold true. That we, as individuals, should not be denied our right to self defense. I know many of you may not have any experience with firearms, may not have an opinion of firearms and that some of you may genuinely dislike firearms. There are, however, several truths that cannot be ignored.

Gun control laws disarm only law-abiding citizens. Thirty-nine states currently operate under a "shall-issue" system, meaning all law-abiding citizens are granted the right to ask for and recieve permission to carry a weapon that they've proven proficency with in a legal manner to defend themselves and those around them from immediate threat of death.

Of the remaining 11 states, 9 will "consider" granting these permits under special conditions and two refuse to allow any law-abiding citizens to carry for ANY reason.

The old cliche, it's better to have and not need than need and not have, is possibly the perfect motto for concealed carry. Statistically speaking, violent crime drops in areas that allow concealed carry because criminals, while flagrantly disregarding laws, possess a keen awareness of self-preservation.

A senator from Loisianna, one David Vitter, is searching for support for a bill he has written. This bill estabilishes reciprocity among states for any legally attained concealed carry permit. Think of it as a driver's license, if you drive to California you do not need to prove you can drive to each state as you pass through. David Vitter's bill will establish the same common sense regulation and help safe-guard our right to defend ourselves should the need ever arise.

I implore you, I ask unreservedly, I come to you with sincereity and honest hope, please use the following link to send the following email to your Senators and ask them to support this legislation.

Dear Senator,

Senator David Vitter is planning to introduce a concealed carry reciprocity
bill next week.

The bill, the "Respecting States Rights and Concealed Carry Reciprocity
Act," will allow citizens who are permitted to carry concealed in
their home
state, to carry in all states that allow concealed carry.

This bill does not establish national concealed carry standards, but takes a
sound constitutional approach that respects states' rights.

I urge you to contact Senator Vitter and become an original cosponsor of
this legislation.

Sincerely,

If you like it, awesome; if you don't, why?
Also feel free to take, edit and repost when, where and how you feel it could best help us. Though with 39 states being "shall issue" I don't see how getting 51 to agree to this would be that hard...I mean it's a heck of a feather to stick in the cap for the pro-gunners.
