Mr. Bill has the right of it. Light weight = lighter load. I carry a 642 loaded with jacketed standard pressure hollowpoints. Save the magnum loads for guns that are controllable with them.
I carry +P Gold Dots in my 642 when I'm packing it. It's all about practice and what you can shoot well. This load is manageable for me. But everyone is different. My buddy can shoot my 3" SP101 with .357 Gold Dots and rapid fire a 6" group center mass at 25 feet...
