Concealed Pistol Dilemma

Hello All. Been lurking for quite a while and decided to test the waters.

It is has been my experience that customer service is a crucial part of ownership of any manufacture item. As far as handguns go my finding are as follows:

Kel Tec = Superb
Kahr = Superb
Glock = Superb

Kimber = Terrible
Bersa = Terrible
Taurus = Terrible

This is only based on my experiences with the makers I have mentioned.YMMV

I agree with "The Lone Haranguer", if you want to stay with IWB carry then the G26, M&P9c, XD9c and the PPS are the way to go (I don't have any experience with the PPS, but heard great things about it). If you are looking at jean pocket carry, then the PM9, 642/442 and LCP are great options. I have no experience with the Sig 238. If using cargo pants with large pockets, the G26 and the Sig 232 are nice options. Try to get to a good size gun shop, if you can, that will have most of these guns in stock so that you can actually handle them, do size comparisons between them, etc. in person. Here is a pic of some of my pistols that includes your current G30, some pistols you mentioned and some that others have mentioned for size comparison. Hope this helps a little:

I currently have a Glock 30SF, but it is too large to conceal in only shorts and a t-shirt. Therefore, I'm looking for something a little smaller/lighter. What do you think of the following:

Ruger LCP
Sig P232
Sig P238
Walther PPS

I'm having a tough time deciding what to get. The LCP is nice because it is light and small, but the trigger is supposedly heavy. How heavy? The P232 is allegedly very reliable and accurate, but it is twice the weight of the LCP and just about 4 ounces lighter than my Glock. Also, it is very expensive, especially for a .380. The P238 has a nice SA trigger, but is about twice the weight of the LCP and just about 4 ounces lighter than my Glocks. Also, the guide rod springs apparently don't function well. The PPS has the most firepower an a good trigger, but is expensive and weighs about the same as the P232 and P238 and might be a little chunkier as well.

What should I get? Any other suggestions?
Why not go with a Glock 36?

Ruger and S&W = Superb as well.

T-shirt carry

I've been using a Taurus 85 in 38 Special +P with Crimson Trace laser grips. Shoots very well to long distances and is small enough for front pocket carry using a pocket holster. Also have a SOB (small of back holster) for it. Like them both.

I use a SOB holster for my 1911 and like it. A sport shirt with tails out works well to cover it. Get one size larger shirt than normal to better conceal.

The Glock 21 uses a high ride strong side belt holster with shirt tails covering and usually a jacket too.

The Dan Wesson 357 has a belt holster and a shoulder rig. Don't carry it much since getting into the 45ACP years ago, but don't want to sell it, as my former fishing/hunting buddy owned it for years and sold it to me just before he died. It's a sentimental thing...

I carry a Smith & Wesson 642 in a Mika pocket holster in my front pants pocket. Empty weight of the revolver is about 15 ozs. This works with just about any pair of shorts or pants for me. Sure, a slight bulge can be seen with some but one can't tell it's from a gun. I suggest an airweight Smith & Wesson 5-shot .38 special revolver. For a discontinued model, look at the model 38. For newer models other than the 642, look at the 442, 438, and 638. All I've suggest either have an internal hammer (442 & 642) or a frame shrouded, external hammer (38, 438, & 638).

If you want a semi-auto pistol, then read about Kahr PM-9 reliability. If it is reliable, then choose that.

Pick up a G26 or a PF-9, I have both and carry both. If you are around the house the keltec is so light it's smotimes feels non existant, and is half the weight of the 26, which is a better made weapon with more potential. So out 26, house pf
