How much "real world" difference is there between the full-sized M&P9 verses the M&P9c for concealed carry purpose. I'm thinking IWB, tucked, @ 7pm (I'm a lefty).

I've come to realize that for carry purposes, lighter is better here in Houston. While I'm going to keep my 1911s, moving to the M&P saves over a pound of steel on the hip. Moving to the compact version saves about 3 more ounces, but at the loss of 4 rounds and a shorter grip.

Is there enough difference between the standard and compact models to warrant the swap?

Personally... I have no love for stubby little guns that have a tiny grip. I mean honestly there isn't a big enough difference in 1" for me to want to sacrifice a full grip that my hand fits comfortably on. I would rather my hand fit completely on the grip than have to curl my little finger under it. I could conceal my friend's sigma and I believe it is roughly the same as the M&P9 and I am not a big guy so you should be fine. I also have no issues concealing my G19 which still fairly full size. I want to get the M&P FS in .40 as soon as I get the extra cash... This probably didn't help much but when I am about 140lbs 5'8 and can easily conceal a sigma or g19 without issue I think you would be fine with the FS if you go that route.
