Considering a Beretta

My local gun store is having a really nice Beretta sale this weekend - 10% off + a $50 rebate, and a range bag...given the deal I'm seriously considering picking one up.

I have wanted a 92FS for a long time but after handling it I'm not convinced that it's right for me. That leaves me with the Px4 Storm as my next option, either the full-size or compact.

What do you think? Are the Px4s reliable and accurate? Good idea or not to pick one up?

I don't know of any Beretta that isn't reliable and accurate. I would just caution you to buy a gun because it is a few dollars cheaper and you get a free bag. Find what yo really want and get that.

The M9a1 was my first pistol and I can't make myself part with it for any reason. It's a beautiful pistol, accurate, and a workhorse. I also had a px4 storm .45 which had less recoil than any .40 cal I've ever shot and was also dead on accurate. The only reason I traded the px was to get an xds .45 to carry as the full size .45 wasn't convenient for me to conceal. You really can't go wrong with either one in my opinion. My only advice would be if you think might need and accessory rail at some point in the future look at the M9A1 or the 96A1.

My 92fs has the smoothest racking action of any handgun I have ever felt. I want a M9 to keep it company....

Personally I think the 92fs is one of the best looking handguns on the market, and they're tons of fun to shoot - low recoil, smooth action. The only downside for some people is the grip - for some it is much too large so I would suggest holding onto one and getting a feel for it first. Having said that, there are aftermarket grips that, as I understand it, make it just thinner enough to make a big difference if you need it.

The only thing I would change about the gun is to make it SAO without the decocker, but that's just personal preference.

Try a 92 Vertec if it's the grip that's bothering you. The PX4 is reliable and the grip is much better; but it'll feel front heavy. Either breaks down and cleans easily.

Have a full size PX4. Loved it so much, bought a compact PX4. The compact is really the way to go! I also want a M9 or 92 as well! I absolutely love my Berettas!

I like the Sigs much more. Personally, I am not a fan of the Px4 handgun. The trigger reset was awful, and it just didn't feel right. That said, I have never seen one hiccup and all that I have shot have been dang accurate.

If I was in the market for a new handgun, I would go with Beretta because of that $50 rebate, but I would take a 92FS, 92A1, M9, or M9A1. But that is just me, if you get a chance to handle and shoot a Px4, see for yourself if you like it! (after all, it isn't whether we like them, it's gonna be your gun )

In short, yes PX4s are accurate and reliable. My current favorite full sized firearm.

I have both, a 92FS Inox and a full size 9mm PX4 Inox. Both are excellent guns, very reliable , accurate and soft shooting. Buy the one that fits your hand the best or if you can, shoot them and get the one you shoot the best. My 92FS is the most accurate 9mm I own. (92FS, PX4, SR9, FNS-9, and Stoeger Cougar 8000 F)

I have both the 92FS and PX4, and have carried three different M9s throughout my military career. Suffice it to say, I'm a fan. That being said, good luck getting anywhere near Hoffmans this weekend. With that Beretta trailer in the parking lot you'll probably have to park in Meriden and walk!

I decided on the px4 compact in 9mm. I filled out all the paper work and the beretta rep realized that they were sold out of that model. I almost went with the 92 but I'm just not sure I would get the milage out of it given the size...bummed. I still have some cash budgeted so now I'm also looking at the sig p2022 and the ruger sr9 compact.

I've had the 96 for about fifteen years - can't ever remember it not feeding any .40 that came along flawlessly - very accurate too. I treat it like an outside dog but it always seems to find its way in the truck wherever I'm going.
