Considering a bolt gun in .224 Valkyrie: thoughts

But I’d be remiss if I didn’t remind - despite how easy rebuilding a Savage 10/12 into a 224 Valk might be - there are other cartridges, more capable cartridges, more readily available, with more quality components available, than the 224 Valk. The heart wants what the heart wants, but for a 22cal CF which eats ~30grn Varget to shoot 80-90grn pills out there a long ways, I’d be getting a 22 BR or 22 Creed long before my money went towards a 224 Valk bolt gun.

I thought about it for a while and decided not. To me the Valkyrie makes some sense in an AR, but not much in a bolt action; I think there are better options.

If you're handy at all, consider building a "Remage" with the barrel of your choice. I've built several now and enjoyed the process as much as I enjoy shooting them. Here's a link to my .22-250AI build. I'm very happy with it.
