I've been looking at Caniks more seriously lately, based mostly on user reviews and general opinions on the triggers and reliability. These were the TP9 variations, and a local dealer has a nice price on a Mete SFX. Anyone have one, have you added an optic without modification needed? Thanks.

I have a TP9SFX (non Mete) that I love. I bought a Vortex Venom red dot for it. My SFX came with four mounting plates and one of them worked just fine, no modification needed. I don't know if Canik still includes four plates. The trigger is exceptional for a striker fired pistol.

Some versions already come with an optics mounted. I have a regular SFX but really considering a Mete now that they announced a black finish version

The pistol is a 9 out of 10. The minus 1 is only because it doesn't have a stepped chamber. have owned the SF, SFX and Mete SFX. All excellent quality, accuracy and reliability (1000s of rounds through each). They are easily in the same class as HK and Walther; I have owned few of those too. The only trigger as good as a Mete is the PDP, not even a Q5 Match.

I know, and might consider a TP9 Elite, but prefer the Mete which retains factory iron sights with an optic mounted. I ask about aftermarket red dots to reduce the initial cost, adding one at a later date. My budget for it would have to stay south of $300. The cost difference in the two SFX's is small enough to go with the newer model.

The limiting factor for mounting a sight directly is the "Shield" footprint, so you'll have to put some time in looking for the available dots with that footprint.

I bought a Canik TP9SF when they first came out, none of the stores even knew what it was so I ordered it online and did a transfer. It was very accurate had the best trigger of any striker fired pistol I've ever tried, my kind of grip angle, and it ate everything I fed it.

Steel, brass, bullet weight didn't faze it one bit, all added for I kept it so long. don't know why there was all the fuss about needing a lighter recoil spring because I never had a single issue of any kind.

Only reason I sold it was for trade in value, and I kinda wish I hadn't now.

Well, the Canik site says "a co-witnessing optics ready slide cut now accepting everything from a Trijicon RMRcc all the way to a micro optic ..." so it seems to me there isn't as much of a limit for choices out there. New to optics so I may be wrong.

You're correct, appears they changed it without consulting me first.
Last I knew it was the shield footprint, without looking I can only assume they offered adapter plates(?) or maybe that's why it was changed to what it is now.

Not needing a plate is actually a better thing. Less screws to come loose and keeps the optic lower. I'd like to look at one to see how they accomplished it.

If you take a look at the website I linked you'll see the various footprints and lots of other info that will give a working knowledge at least.

I'm trying to find out if I can get a Holosun "K" series to play nice with my Beretta 92X RDO. Holosun seems to have a proprietary modified Shield footprint, and I'm not getting any response from them or Beretta about it.

(Mete) Great improvements to an already great gun. Sorry to say I recently sold my SFX! Needed the cash for another project but I would buy another in a heart beat especially with these improvements. Looks one can be bought online for $450.00

The trigger on mine with the improvements was outstanding!! Improvements: Freedom smith trigger and lower power trigger return spring. Mine was well broke in with several thousand rounds fired.

Now my gun account just needs to return to positive.
