I've owned and shot a great deal both the 7.5" and 5.5" Redhawks in 44 Magnum. I owned both at the same time and would shoot them alternately. What I noticed was I greatly preferred the way the 5.5" handled and shot compared to the 7.5" gun. The 5.5" Redhawk became my 'had to shoot every range visit' gun and is my favorite handgun. I ended up selling the 7.5" gun simply because I did not care to shoot it. I really don't miss it.
I've successfully used that stainless 5.5" Redhawk in Hunter's Pistol Silhouette Open Sight and bowling pin shoots. It doesn't give up anything to any other gun in those sports. I was always the determining factor. I tried it for steel shooting with some success but smaller caliber, lighter guns worked better in that application.
The only caveat with the Redhawk is there must be follow through on the the trigger and use a stock spring if shooting double action. If I need a longer barrel than 5.5" of 44 Magnum then a 6" 629 or 7.5" Super Blackhawk fill the bill.
