I've got a S&W mod 410 .40 cal pistol but have lately been considering buying an M&P .40 to replace it with. Weight is about the same but the M&P holds more rounds. The grip on the M&P seems to fit my hand a little better but I've not had the chance to fire one yet. The 410 does have an actual hammer versus the M&Ps striker fired system, differing opinions on that depending on who you talk to.

I'm wanting a full sized weapon that fits in my small hands well and carries more ammunition. If they made a small handled pistol that carried 20 rounds I'd buy one but I think this is about as close as I'm going to get.

Opinions, or suggestions?

Well I've bought a M&P40 to replace my XD-40 as my main CCW weapon , couldn't be happier . Its one of the sweetest shoot 40's I own . So go for it , and especially if you get the chance to shoot one before making the deal to be sure its what you want .
