Last year I loaded about 100 rounds of .303 British, put them in plastic baggies and into my tote which mostly stays in the back of my truck.

Also in the tote were two jars of peanut butter which must have leaked and leached into the baggies.

Now most of my loaded rounds are covered with peanut oil.

I thought of cleaning them with denatured alcohol and seeing how they work.

What are your thoughts?

You need better jars. The peanut butter home made? Factory made PB has a seal, up here.
Highly unlikely the oil got into the cases, but shoot a couple and see. Suggest you use squirrel targets. snicker.

One jar was opened, but the lid was on tight. The ammo is a mess, just hope it didn't get the primer or powder. Things happen especially when you keep your stuff in a tote. Next time I'm putting the ammo in a sealed Tupperware container.

Years ago, I read a story (in a gun rag) about a fellow who experimented with all sorts of things as cast boolit lube. I can't remember the whole list but some of the tested "lubes" were Crisco, Vaseline, Lithium grease and last but not least peanut butter. The only conclusion I retained was the PNB smelled a bit toasted after it's five shots.

Truth is indeed sometimes stranger than fiction.

You might consider putting the peanut butter in a sealed tupperware container instead. The ammo isn't going to leak. ;)

Just put them in the truck seat beside you with a jar of grape jelly. Each day dip one in the jelly and lick it clean. That way you don't waste the pb and get a snack to boot. Man that's what I would do! No kidding man, that's what I would do!
Let know how it taste! I may try it next!

Well, after all, PB is the symbol for lead on the periodic table of elements. So, you would have PB&J. :D

Hhmmm peanut butter as a bullet lube.....
I would wipe them off shot a couple and see.

Be careful though to make sure they are clean, walking in bear country smelling like peanut butter might be a bad thing:D

now thinking about Emeril making a PB&J sandwich- "let's kick it up a notch and add a little 303 British...Bam!"

Peanut oil cleans up with soap & water. Just don't get caught, you will be expected to wash the dishes, too.

Call me careless but, unless there was actually peanut butter on them, I would just shoot them. I can't imagine peanut oil causing any ill effects whatsoever.

You never know, you might have just discovered the next big thing in gun oil:)

whatcha need with that peanut butter contaminated ammo is some local, raw honey. Good for what ales ya!

You've basically just reinvented FIREClean. Wipe the excess off onto a piece of wonder bread and you'll have a delicious range-snack ready to rock.

OK folks, enough is enough. This was a learning experience for me. Still don't know how the peanut oil leached thru the zip lock bag, but it did. Tomorrow I'm going to take some alcohol (denatured) and wipe the oil off as if I was to shoot them like they are the cases would not have a chance to grip the chamber and would have too much bolt thrust which is especially bad for a Lee enfield.

We were laughing with you NOT at you. I think we all had a good time on this one!
You're a good sport!
BUT I WOULD TRY AT LEAST ONE WITH JELLY JUST SO YOU'LL KNOW! Haha.

Just about all the funny stuff has been said (or I hope so, NOT!), but I would just wipe the cartridges with a solvent dampened rag (mineral spirits, alcohol, brake clean, etc) and shoot 'em. I don't think the oil will seep into the tight seal of the case neck/bullet or the primer pocket/primer unless it has been submerged for a long time in widely varying temperature swings...
