I have been reloading 300 BO for a few years now. I have converted a few hundred cases for the cartridge. Usually it's L.C. headstamps. But I did some oddball case that I consider disposable. Perfecta, A USA, GFL, PSD, to name a few.
It was only this last year that I bought a Lyman's case gage for it. Going through some loaded ammo, I discovered some at the headstamp end, that stuck out of the gage by about 1/4". I was sure I set the sizing die up right, but not 100% sure.
The other day I went through checking resized brass. All the LC brass gages okay. Got to the A USA, and they stuck out by 1/8". Perfecta was a little better. GFL brass neck were too big for the neck area of the gage. PSDs were almost as bad.
All resized factory BO cases passed the gage.
Besides some factory and reman ammo, I have only shot the reloads using LC and Perfecta brass. Having 2 uppers in this cartridge, only one of them have I shot a fair amount with. It doesn't seem picky. The other I shot only enough to zero the sights and red dot.
Has anyone ran into where converted brass will not cycle through their AR in 300 BO? Though I haven't measured it, I'm thinking the brass thickness at the main body of the brass varies to some extent.

Some brass is thicker than others. Once you get below the neck the brass thickness changes. So it's the thicker wall it's what causing you problems. There is a list that list the ones that do not require turning (thinning) the necks. Some do some don't. I don't load for the 300 BO so I don't remember where I saw it out.

Thanks, I'll try to search it up.

I looked at that list and his brass wasn't listed as being bad. Well, the GFL (Fiochi) was listed as having variable neck thicknesses but the rest (A USA, perfecta, and PSD) were all considered "good".
