Should just need a .40S&W barrel and .40S&W magazine, although your 10mm mags might work.
OTOH I don't think 10mm 1911s are much easier to find than ones that come in .40S&W.

Fit a 40S&W barrel. That should be it.
I would not invest in new springs or mags until I had issues. Most 10mm guys immediately get stiffer springs, so the stock ones will probably be fine unless you run really light loaded 40's. The mags are frequently identical.

To switch a 10mm 1911 to .40 S&W, the following should be done.
1) Fit new barrel and barrel bushing.
2) If loading .40 S&W long, use 10mm magazines. If not, try 10mm magazines. If you have magazine issues, buy some .40 S&W magazines.
3) Match new recoil spring to your load.
I basically went the other way when I switched my SVI from .40 S&W to 10mm.

Hey guys, I'm thinking about doing the same thing with my Kimber 10mm. I like it, and even reload, but I shoot .40 way more than 10mm and it seems like my expensive Kimber just sits around.
I see KKM and Jarvis and Barsto offer barrels, but what, if any ramp style do I need? What setup do you guys have?

SDGlock23 - Call up one of the above and ask them what ramp cut is standard on your Kimber. They will probably know, or at least be able to tell you what to measure to find out. I am ignorant of the differences, and 2 minutes on Google didn't enlighten me, other than the frame cut is different (maybe).
JDGray - That was my first impression too. However, on second thought, 40S&W brass is essentially free to pick up at the ranges I go to. I typically lose about 10-15% of my 10mm brass on a visit (brass that gets tossed forward into no man's land). Being able to come home with 10-15% more brass instead of less is attractive.
