I couldn't help but chime in - the turret on Lee 4 hole turret presses is too close for me to adjust the dies, and I have a ton of Lee 3 hole turrets set up for all my reloading. If you don't mind not using the auto index feature (which I've never used), there is an easy fix: Remove the 4 hole turret plate from the press and replace it with the turret plate from the Lee Pro 1000 press: part number TP2126 turret ring. Then disconnect the auto index and enjoy your new 3 hole turret press.

I tried to add this tip to the Lee knowledge base at the Lee web sit, but it doesn't seem to be there.

To do this on the Classic Cast press it will have to be run as a manual index for as what I know of these presses the ram fitting that holds the ratchet for the indexer will not swap from the 3 hole press to the 4 hole Classic Cast press as the rams are completely different.

Also for those that do not know, the reason for changing the Turret ring is because the 3 hole turrets and the 4 hole turrets use a different lug pattern.

I just change my locking rings, so I don’t have any issues adjusting dies in the 4 hole heads.

" If you don't mind not using the auto index feature (which I've never used)". Sometimes we miss important parts of the OP... FWIW, I used my Lee Turret for well over 20 years and hand indexed since day two (I was trying to set it up, adjust the dies and it would index when I didn't want it to so I disabled the auto index) . I much preferred it that way as I batch load...

mdi I didn't miss that point at all. I was just trying to clarify in case someone thought they could change the 4 hole press to a 3 hole press and still use the auto index. As I pointed out, that doesn't work. But I hear of many that run that press in manual mode and I don't have any issue with that. Matter of fact I have an old model 3 hole that I received w/o the auto index parts and I now use that press with my Lee pass thru bullet sizing dies. I have a .356", .358" and a .452" die in it.
