I used to work for a lady who was a Civil Engineer in our county government. I have known her seven years. She is twenty years younger than me and was a good mentor and friend. A former E-8 Marine friend/co-worker and I took her to the range 5 years ago and gave some range time with various handguns. She had a great time and ever since has been talking about buying a gun. Just talk. I am retired now but we keep in touch.
I went to her 39th birthday party last night and gave her a CZ 70, a rug, ammo and 4 magazines. She was overwhelmed. (She would have been more overwhelmed if I could have parted with a Walther PP or Browning 1922.) I told her that the gift includes a trip to the range and to bring her husband. I'll go over the rules with her, show her the operation of the pistol and we'll shoot up all the ammo I gave her and then I'll give her another box. Her husband is retired USAF-R but has never owned a gun. I think he's a convert too.
