Corrosive ammo, why is it bad?

what did the military do about the problem? I cant see soldiers stopping to clean their wepons while waiting for the next assault.
 
Residual hygroscopic salts left after firing. (draws moisture from atmosphere) ) Treat it like a ML using real BP, flush and clean with h2o, no problemo.
 
I believe it was Hatcher who said it took about 7 hours after firing with corrosive primers for the salts to draw enough moisture to start corrosion in the M1 Garand. The obvious answer is take the gun out and shoot it ever six hours to dry it out.
