I just called an FFL to confirm that NJ NICS is indeed shut down.

Off the top of my head {someone reality check me on this...}, couldn't he just use an Illinois FFL for the transfer?

. . . I am trying to buy a pistol from a fella in NJ and he says he can't get a NICS check from his FFL because of the state shutdown and thus can't send me my purchase.
If you're in Illinois, doesn't the seller just send the pistol to your FFL dealer in Illinois? NICS checks are for the buyer, so your Illinois FFL dealer will run a NICS check on you before completing the tranaction.

What does NJ NICS have to do with this transfer?

State government shuts down, NICS can't be checked.

So you can't buy a gun from a dealer in NJ right now and for the duration of the shutdown?

It's a little "baby with the bathwater-ish" but there's your gun ban right there.

Any of you other Jersey guys know if we have a recall provision like California's? I don't know and I don't know where to look.

not sure about the recall...
former guv jim florio wasn't allowed to tax toilet paper, so he didn't get recalled...:p
and former guv mcgriefy left for his boy-toy before a recall could be attempted...

Relax. Once they realize that everyone is HAPPIER with the government shut down, they'll start it back up. Especially since they don't want anyone to see how little they really need the government.:D

no recall, no referendum, and pretty much everything considered illegal corruption in other states has been made legal.

it's in prety sorry shape.

Well, it looks like our Glorious Leader and the Politburo got their act together. Now they need to hurry up and vote. Nobody here has any idea when the casinos will reopen. This whole thing has done more damage to AC than any of those...people think.

well yeha

we dont have money

so lets shut down something that brings in millions a day

plus you think all them casino workers are working and getting paid?

nope

whats that mean?

they aint paying state income tax

and since they aint making money they aint buying nothing either and paying sales tax

I still have problems with a governor shutting down the goverment cause he didn't get his way.

Not only that, but the tax increase he got only makes up 1 billion of a 4.something billion shortfall.

Incidentally, in 2004, the state lost about a billion in revenues from all the folks that FLED that forsaken place.
