Cost of .500 Magnum Ammo.

Any of you reload for the .500 Magnum? If so, about how much do you spend per round after all the costs are figured in? This stuff from the factory averages about $2.50 - $3.00 per round, probably even more now since all ammo has gone up.

Well I haven't bought bullets for awhile and I probably won't ever again now that I'm casting my own bullets . . .BUT when I got into it the rounds ran $2 a shot and I was loading for .38 per shot. I think my first 300 rounds of ammo pretty much paid for my equipment. FWIW.

When I shoot up the remainder of my stock and start shooting my cast bullets it will be about:


.11 Powder
.03 Primer
.08 Bullet

For a grand total of .22 per round.

I'm running about .65 a round including new Starline brass and 300gr SP bullets.
Take off .40 if you already have the brass.

If you want a cheap jacketed bullet, try Remington 385 grain Core-Lokts.

The Berry's bullets are copper plated. The plate is thicker than the normal Berry's plate.
