With poly coated cast bullets @ $24/250 delivered (Blue Bullets), I have my my .357 loads down around $6.50/50. Next time I'll order a larger quantity and do a little better.

Primers are around $32/1000 these days, but thankfully Unique and Bullseye are still around $21/pound.

30 years ago I tracked cost for awhile then the quantity and variability of the components on hand got to where I would have spent more time bookkeeping then reloading or shooting!
I'm at the point where I don't care. I'm 57 years old and not sure I can shoot all that I have now.

It's a hobby...

and it cost to play. Last thing I want to do is calculate ALL associated cost and compare it to price per round. It was fun in the beginning to compare cost of primer/powder/projectile to factory rounds. But then, gasp, I added more tools to the basic necessities. And then, groan, I started upgrading. Oh my, I then built an addition on to my garage so I could reload in year round comfort. Or rather in the process of building. I'm not spreadsheet tracking that cost either. Nope! Don't want to know how much I spend on this hobby.

I once calculated the cost per fish on my fishing hobby. Let's just say, "lesson learned!". :what:

I enjoy reloading. It's relaxing, entertaining, challenging, fulfilling...that's what I'm buying.

I don't save a dime, I just shoot 3 times as much ammo. :D
Varies but about $6/50 9mm depending on the bullet
About $8/50 .45 APC again varies with bullet.

Like most I don't save a dime, I shoot more :)

For 9mm I typically save at least 50% for plinking. For rifle I save more, or shoot premium for the price of target ammo. My volume of rifle ammo is lots less than pistol though.

It's a hobby so my time is free, and I enjoy it.

Jeff

^ But the OP's question was cost savings PER ROUND.
Looking at it that way, there is savings.

Come on guys. We've got to justify it some way that the ladies in our lives will put up with it.. :)

45 acp
primers and powder-local purchase 3.1/1.5 cents
Quality cast bullets- on line 8.9 cents
brass-- range/free
total 13.5 cents ea. ---not bad

Average cost for a box of 45LC. is about $5 casting my own. Primers 3cents, powder less then that. Brass re used multiple times.
Time for a hobby I enjoy- no cost.
