I've been wanting a Beretta Cougar in Inox for several years. Whenever I find them, they're always *way* overpriced. I've looked closely at the Stoeger Cougar for a couple of years, but didn't care too much for the finish on it. I've recently notice the two-tone version, and yesterday ran across a listing for a total stainless version. So I went and picked one up this AM at the not-so-loal Cabela's.

Nice little pistol, can't wait to shoot it. I don't care for the stainless sights or the plastic magazine release (or the ambi decocker, for that matter). I think I'm going to grind off the front and rear serrations and stipple this sucker! A few other mods might be in order as well.

The DA trigger pull is surprisingly smooth. So is the final trigger break. All in all, a heck of a gun for $400, if it shoots. :)

JDGray that was my thought as well, "you dog! Posting this on THR!"

Congratulations though, I didn't know they started making stainless Stoeger Cougars, from every single thing I have read about them they are major shooters.

Count me in with the filthy crowd. it was the first thought that came to my mind as well.

The second thought was "I wonder if this'll be one of the threads with pics!"

Oh, and just to put it back on topic, very nice pistol.

One of the first .45s i ever shot was the Beretta Cougar in a match with a couple friends using a simulator. That was a great pistol. More accurate than it had any right to be!

Congrats. Very nice. I've got one in black but wish it was stainless. Did those grips come with it?

...

Congrats on a great find..

The ease of the DA pull and SA break may indicate that the previous owner put in a D-spring.. They make such a difference.

BTW, it's a Stoeger (made in Brazil IIRC) which Beretta sold them all the jigs and rights for the 8000, 8040, and 8045, Cougar series.

Enjoy,

Ls

First I thought attractive older lady, then I thought maybe you got followed home by a man eating large cat, then I realized whatever it is this will be interesting. Didn't think stoeger cougar. They are sweet guns from what I hear, I've been avidly trying to avoid buying one.

This is why I refer to mountain lions as mountain lions. :)

Yes, the grips came with it, though I've already ordered some checkered rosewood grips from Hogue.

The stainless thing must be fairly recent. I hadn't seen mention of one until yesterday evening, while I was browsing Able Ammo's site. (It appeared they had them in stock, BTW.)

I went to the Cabelas in Ft. Worth. I believe they had at least one other in stock. They had a couple in black, and a two-tone as well.

I didn't know they were making them in stainless either. I just might have to get one of those.

Oh, and for what it's worth for anyone in the metroplex, Cabelas has PLENTY of handgun ammo in stock. "Normal" prices too. They even had some 380. They had loads of Sell & Bell 115 grain 9mm for $13.99 per box of 50.

The manual makes reference to a 357 Sig as well. The manual also shows a D model, which is a DAO (not my thing).
