My first Beretta... Woot! (pics included!)

Hi everyone...

So some of you might remember my thread not too long ago of what to look for in a used Beretta 92FS

My interests in the 92FS started when I was way young, I still remember when capguns were legal, I had a black 92FS that fed the caps fed by plastic strips.

Well... this purchase was more so of impulse. I've always wanted a Inox 92FS, but my experiences with Beretta 92/96 FSs were somewhat average. The times I have shot them, I remembered it being somewhat so-so. Of course, if theres the bad experience, all you remember is the negatives. This stuck with me for a few years; remember that they jammed (range 92FS) and the 96FS Inox I shot had a long and vague trigger pull. If you look for Beretta and my user name, I usually always gave the Beretta a bad review.

BUT.... I felt the same way about Glocks and I gave those guns another shot. I ended up buying a Glock 23 to try out. And I figured, the ONLY way to really determine whether or not you like another platform is to own it.

I recently saw Modenar1's Beretta for sale at Calguns for a good price. I thought long and hard about it, and the gun ended up selling before I got a chance to buy it. Within that time frame of figuring out whether or not I really want to buy/try out a Beretta, I researched the bejeezus outta the 92FS.

Luckily enough, I found a 92FS Inox, LNIB, for sale. The 2nd owner, never shot it. It was a safe queen. He told me that he doesn't think the 1st owner fired it either. So... Here I am, the 3rd owner of a LNIB Beretta 92FS Inox, Full metal, even metal guide rod, with a straight dustcover. Fully stock, never tinkered.

The RO at the range took a look at it and seriously thinks that the gun was never fired since the breachface is absolutely clean.

So, here's my LNIB all metal, straight DC 92FS Inox... for $525.

Initial impressions. I love the way it feels. This gun is SMOOTH. No slide to frame play. Chambering a dummy round is even smoother than my 1911's.

The trigger pull is pretty long in DA, single action is a little heavy, and can be more crisp. Pretty much how I remembered it, but I plan to get the trigger worked over.

The finish is gorgeous. I love the 2 tone stainless look of the slide and frame. Looks sorta hardchromed for the slide.

That stainless guide rod looks a gazillion times better than the plastic ones on the newer 92's.

The pointability is simply amazing. I love it. I'm also surprised how close the feeling of the grip is to my SIG P226.

One quick concern however, decocking the gun the hammer drops pretty fast. Wouldn't that cause a round to go off?

Also one peeve is when you decock the gun, the safety is engaged. So when you rack a round into the chamber, the hammer automatically drops.

I already got a D spring coming in and just put on Hoge rubber grips.

Anyways, I look forward to taking this gun out to the range. I gotta break this sucker in since the first 2 owners didn't do that for me. :D

And heres another picture, with my SIG P226 with polished barrel & guide rod. I took this picture for one of the threads at berettaforum.net (SIG vs. PB thread). Figure I just throw in that pic in here too :)

I LOVE 92 Inoxs. A straight 92FS won by a nose for my first Beretta, but my next Beretta will definitely be the Inox version. They are very nice looking guns.

The all inox 92/96 look great, I think top 5 sexisthandguns ever! You got a good deal on that one too, they're getting more rare by the day.

If you on Berettaforum you should really look into doing a trigger job. I really didnt care for the DA on my 96 when stock I changed out the springs. Better while it lasted then I started seeing everyone say how easy it is to polish the action of the pistol.

Don't be scared pussycat, just do it. You'll love it. The DA is now smooth but firm and more defined. DA is just peachy, light crisp and fast.

Plus gives you an excuse to left alone for a couple hours with your protector.

ps. Not like that though, pervs.:neener:

Thanks guys! :)

I've been reading up on how to disassemble the gun and how to perform a trigger job on the gun. I'm a little nervous detail stripping the gun as of right now... but I've been researching all the threads over at BF.net

That is a great looking gun! Now all you need are some fancy wood grips.

Heh, all this gun is gonna get is the hogue rubber grips thats on her now. She's a shooter, not a safe queen :D

Nice gun. No need to worry about the fast decock. The transfer bar rotates 90 deg so it is impossible to fire. Watch the back of the gun as the decocker moves.

me too

i am getting one used from my local gun shop i cannot wait, but i have too for a while:banghead: :fire: :cuss:

Great find! Congrats!

I got a newer 92FS Inox with the black highlights - "used" but unfired - for $450. The guy's wife made him take it back to the store for a loss. I must have caught the store clerk at a weak moment.

It is a really smooth and accurate pistol. My wife and I love to shoot it.

Now you just need to pick up a bunch of Beretta or MDS mags for it. I've slowly worked up to 6!

Gunadmirer,
Thats a fantastic price for a LNIB Inox! Great find! Do my eyes deceive me or does your dustcover look straight, but with black controls? Sweet! :D

I've noticed most Inox pictures I've seen has the gun on a wooden table! Check out the galleries over at Sigforum, 80% of the 92/96FS Inox pictures have their gun taken on a wooden table. LOL. :)

Well, as long as others are posting pics.. :D

There are a couple pics around here of an Elite w/ carbon fiber grips that are just sweet! I just wish I ordered them for my inox 92fs when I had the chance :banghead:
Nice acquisition...congrats! :D

I know this thread is old, but I wanted to post this incredible link I found..

www.beretta92fs.com

It is a donation-funded video series that gives comprehensive disassembly instructions. Everything from field stripping on down to internal workings are shown. It really is impressive and very clear. Though someone might like to see it.

Also, I am currently picking up a LNIB 92FS Inox for $500 shipped. Mine also has the older, all silver look. So they're still out there you just have to look! :neener:

I have to get this black majik guy hooked on HK and get rid of all his jamomatic 1911 :D
If you ever come up here, you can shoot all my HKs! :D
