Could someone talk me out of this?

Sounds to me like you need to try another 1911 that suits your purpose. I like revolvers, and I would never talk anybody out of adding one to their "menagerie", but I would never give up one of my 1911s for one.

I think I need to hold off on whatever I do because I keep changing my mind every 3 days or so.

I was reading an Ayoob article this morning that got me thinking more about liability. While my Colt with the series 80 is department approved, and I use the ammo they issue, wouldn't I be about as covered as possible if I carried a smaller Glock .45 off duty and had to use it? Might make my practice with one work a lot better towards the other. I know when I'm dry firing my Colt I often think to myself that It's WAAAY easier than my duty gun. I wonder if I'm cheating myself. Hmmm...

Don't worry about selling the 1911 to fund the purchase, it's safe, just figuring what else I'd want to add to the collection.

I'd keep the O ACP...

FYI - Regularly, shoot
1911 5" Bbl. .45 ACP
S&W 625 5" Bbl. .45 ACP Full Moon CLips
S&W 617 6" Bbl.
CZ 75B 9mmx19
S&W Model 60 3" Bbl. .357 Mag which
has the w&e adj. rear sight. It is the
CHiefs SPecial in Stainless steel - weight
empty 24 oz. The 640 is the all SS shrouded
hammer model but only comes with the 2 1/8" Bbl.
I've tried .357 Mag 125 gr. jHPs in my 60 and
for better recovery due to recoil, I opt for
Double Tap .38 Special +P 125 gr. Speer GD
Velocity loss for .357 mag is a lot over published
velocities once you go from 6" Bbl. to 4" Bbl. and it
just gets worse with snubbies in terms of blowing
unburned powder for a big muzzle flash.
even the J-frames have the cylinder bulge.

I'd like to get a 1911 in the Colt CCO fromat,
with Commander leng. 4.25" Bbl. on the Officers
frame. The longer slide/barrel has more rep. of
reliability and better ballistics than the 3.5" or less
in len. bbl. platforms Nothing like a 1911 trigger.\

I'll never sell another handgun.
I'm with NMGonzo here.
I also will NEVER part with another handgun, or any of my guns, for that matter!
Days of trading are over for me.
If I want a gun bad enough, I shall save for it!
No TRADES!
