ok im new to this forum and ive tried this on others to no avail but from what I have seen thus far on thr I believe we can stay on topic here. lets have an honest discussion about our successes loading this great cartridge past current published information. being an avid revolver shooter and hunter at what some would consider extreme distances this topic holds a special place to me but seems taboo to speak of online. specifically I like to know what everyone who exceeds the limits is using for a "ruger only" load (yes I know other firearms are every bit as strong as the ruger and the limiting factor for these loads is often cylinder length).
Just to get the redundant posts out of the way we all know we could buy a 454, 460, 500, gnr's, linebaugh's if we wanted more performance. but we want more speed and power from the 44. we all know the dangers and are experienced handloaders (or should be if your posting on this particular topic).
my newest prospect to hotrod for not quite such long range is a 4 and 5/8" super Blackhawk SS (what a handy size!). anyone got recommendations for pushing the envelope with this short barrel?
im currently running what I had laying around that wasn't designated for other "hotrod" projects so that left hornady 240gr xtp's topping 24.2gr of 4227.
any honest velocity and performance evaluations from people using the speer #8 manual for everyday loads?
