Crime statistics in Canada vs. US

Please, do not confuse crime per capita (crime per 100K, crime rate, etc) and total crime.

When you say Places like France, Germany, UK, and Sweden also had more crime than the US. the meaning of that is these places have more total crime than the US. For example, if there are 50K incidences of crime in France, and 49K incidences of crime in the US, that statement would be correct.

I doubt that France, Germany, UK and Sweden have more crime than the US. The US population is so much larger than these other countries.

I am not confusing them. I just didn't proof read my post. The Interpol stats are RATE, not total. Still opens eyes doesn't?

It might be useful to point out how SIMILAR the US and Canada are. Both have very liberal gun laws, even now. In the entire Americas from Canada to Argentina the lowest crime rates are in Canada and the US. Canada and the US also have by far the most liberal gun laws. If there is any connection between gun laws and crime, it would seem to show that liberal gun laws reduce crime.

interpol

I fell into an argument like this one, and made the mistake of quoting Interpol stats. Turns out that Interpol has made some serious errors in its crime stats. I had to come down pretty far apologizing.

Google on Interpol and you can find out about their errors. I can't say for sure just what crime in various European countries might be, just that you had better not trust interpol to tell you.

And coming out and saying that it has a lot to do with the black/hispanic population would be met with a sarcastic response
Then do it indirectly - for example. say "In a comparison of murder rates between Vancouver and Seattle, the largest demographic group, non-hispanic Caucasians, had very similar murder rates; in fact, during the period the study was conducted, the murder rate in this group was a statistically insignificant one percent lower in Seattle than it was in Vancouver."

Let THEM draw the conclusion that all the difference is accounted for by groups other than non-hispanic Caucasians.

in fact, during the period the study was conducted, the murder rate in this group was a statistically insignificant one percent lower in Seattle than it was in Vancouver.

You might even add to that, that non-hispanic whites in Seattle had the highest rate of firearms ownership of the ethnicities.

i don't think crime has anything to do with race. it has more to do with economics and chance(opportunity). all races commit crimes and most crimes are comitted by lower income people. even when economics is not directly a factor in a crime, if any individual has a chance of not being caught/harmed by the act of crime...then it will happen (Act of crime.).

cz75bdneos22, it's not race as such. In the U.S., we know from CDC data and other such governmental statistics and reports that the majority of all homicides occur in inner city ghettos. These areas' people represent, to a large degree, a "sub-culture" of poverty, welfare and drug-crime.

And they happen to be made up predominantly of people who are either black or Latin. To speak out about this in public is politically incorrect. One is supposed to believe that all ethnic groups' homicide rates are the same.

As for the comparative economic status of ethnic groups, my understanding from the popular press is that some 2/3 of all blacks are middle class; they're ahead, generally, of Latins.
