I noticed on some of my factory SS109 ammo the bullets appear to be crimped below/at the bottom of the cannelure. While RTFM-ing it appears the recommend seating close to the top of the cannelure ring. Once I apply a light roll crimp the cannelure ring disappears entirely - does this mean I'm seating slightly too deep? My COL is 2.222 which seems well within specs. I suppose its also possible the ring is much wider on the factory ammo..

Thanks.

Adjust your seater stem up just a tad. Most seating/crimping dies tend to push the bullet in a bit farther during the crimping process.

this is why most folks seat and crimp in two operations.Since the press handle is being pushed to make the crimp happen, the bullet is stiff being shoved in a smidge by the nose punch, and this usuall ends up shaving bullet material too.
