Crimped .40S&W

Recently I ran across a number of Winchester stamped .40S&W brass that have a distinct "ring-style" crimp. I was not aware that any .40cal was being sold in the US with crimps. They decrimp and load just fine.

Has anybody else seen these? Any idea what the original load was and how it's being marketed?

was it winchester white box 180 grain?

Sounds like some .gov contract over-run to me. Probably sold as Win white box FMJs.

I didn't shoot the original rounds (range pickup), so I don't know if it was white box. It may well have been.

There was some crimped PMC 40SW floating around a couple years ago. Coast Guard overrun, or something.
