I'm considering the Crimson Trace lg-185 grips for my Taurus 85. Anyone have them; like them or hate them? I'm looking for reviews from people who've had this combo before.

I've get a set of LG-105's (S&W version) on my j-frame snubby and I'm very happy with them. In fact, I like them so much I bought a set of the pink LG-185's for a Taurus 905 that I'm giving my wife for christmas.

I find them easier to conceal than the other models and the plastic doesn't grab onto your clothing like the rubber grips. I've read where some people complain about recoil and the fact that they are hard plastic but to me it's no different than shooting with wood grips. The dot is hard to see in bright sunlight but other than that they work great. I line mine up to match the sights at 10yds and that keeps me on target from contact range out to 25yds.

The only thing they don't have is an on-off switch but that isn't an issue for me as the laser only works when you grip the gun firmly so you're not running the batteries down the rest of the time.

I bought both of sets of mine off of ebay, I paid $154 for the 105's and $184 for the 185's including shipping. There's several sets of black ones listed now in the $170-$180 range.

I was concerned because of a product review I read on a sellers website, where someone complained the grips were "ill fitting", and wanted to get more than one opinion.

Both sets I purchased fit the guns as least as well as the original factory grips.

And I wouldn't sweat the exposed backstrap, I don't think it's an issue. Maybe I'm dating myself but I've been shooting revolvers with wooden grips and exposed backstraps for decades without incident.

I got 405's on my 442, They're great for concealment which is why I bought them, They're slimmer than stock and don't have the splitter for your fingers.
They take a little getting use to but work fine. Site them in for CQ, 10 to 15 feet should do. Willy G.
