Crimson Trace laser grips: How do they work in full sunlight?

Hi All,

I just received my Crimson Trace laser grips for my SP-101. In the box, it seems like they will be even more comfortable than the stockers.

From what I read, it seems like the only disadvantages to these are: a) The price; I had to search like crazy to find this model (with the four finger grip) for $200. Going rate was $280; and b) Visibility in daylight.

For those of you who have them, how is the visibility in full sunlight? Are they 100% useless or dim, but still useful?

I can see them at10 yards at the range in AZ sunshine, but they're not easy to see. Night time is when they shine, no pun intended.

Somewhere between dim and useless in bright sun.
Especially in green foliage in the woods.

But, that was never the intended purpose when I bought them.
I can see the sights in bright sunlight.

I voted dim but still useful. Only because I couldn't say 100% useless. after 10 feet its dang hard to see.

Like RC, that was never the intended purpose when I bought them-
I bought them for the wife's LCP, which she loves...

She can see the sights in bright sunlight- and no real need for the laser then.

In that case, I wonder why CTC is still messing around with red lasers. There are lasers for AR's that are bright green that can be seen for hundreds of yards. Probably a matter of miniaturization...

Not good in a High Noon Scenario. I have two sets of CTs on two revolvers.

You would probably want a higher output green laser for bright light.
I don't know if anyone uses those in something for a revolver with the exception of a revolver with a rail.

Beam Intensity/Wavelength for an appropriate daytime laser: Green, 5mW peak, 532nm, Class IIIa, Continuous Wave.
Laser Beam Divergence/Spot Size/Range: 1.2 mrad, approx. 0.5" diameter at 50 feet, Up to 200 yards daylight, 2 miles at night.

Yes about 10 to 15 feet in day light depending on the light and target color. Nighttime they are really good and work for me out to at least 30 yards maybe farther have not tried them at a longer known range.

Once for grins and giggles I dismounted and aimed the laaser at a city water tower behind my house, sans pistol, midnight pitch black. The laser dot was bright and easily visible on the tank, was probably about a foot across, and over 300 yards away. Kinda outside pistol range.
