Is that a frickin' SP101 with a frickin' laser beam attached to it?

Apologies to Dr. Evil... :p

My December ruminations of owning an SP101 with CTC LaserGrips has come to pass. I took delivery of the grips from MidwayUSA yesterday. No real need for them, I guess, just something I wanted.

I must say I'm really impressed with every aspect of them so far; from the packaging to the grips themselves. They were in a rather handsome box, and further wrapped in a neat, little Crimson Trace emblazoned "hanky." They installed quickly & easily. The grips fit my hand just about perfectly and are quite comfortable.

I haven't had a chance to shoot with them yet, but the dot seems to be dead-on when I compare it with the iron sights at distance. And, wow! The dot really is bright. Easily visible in the daylight, and at night it seems like it reaches forever. In the dark it'd even show up on objects that were pretty darn far away.

I had a quick little photo shoot with them today...

As I mentioned, the packaging really is nice. I'm almost like the little kid on Christmas that likes the box better than the toy.

The gun & grips, proper.

Nice gun. My buddy, who just got back from Iraq, has a 3in with crimson trace grips. I would like to have them also but I don't want to be a coppy cat and have onother 3in sp101 with CT grips.

PS did you photo shop the serial # off of the right side? If you did you did a pretty good job!!

One suggestion...

I do believe the user manual suggests you remove the grips when you clean the gun. It's a good suggestion. Be careful not to get any cleaner/liquid near the "laser bead/whatever." You do and that nice tight beam will no longer be so nice and tight.

Experience talking....

Excellent addition to an SP-101 or any J frame snub IMO. Had mine some time now. I hate them so much, five other guns have CT's ;) :p

As I always remind folks - try to never let those CT's become a primary sighting tool - use irons after the draw always but - when light level down you will by default see your dot and so can make good use of it. Should the grips fail (unlikely) then at least you will still be quick into the aim.

NICE ammunition in there...what is the name of those little babys. Also...I have a snub s&w 357 and I cannot justify spending that kind of cake for a snub. I immagine if I ever need to use her she's going to be damn near point blank. It's hard to miss then.

Thanks. Very nice pictures. Sparked my interest. My only concern is holster fit. I am thinking of puting them on a Taurus 905 9mm. Same small grip frame as the 85. I carry in a Milt Sparks Summer Special and a Kramer pocket holster. I posted on the CTC forum to see what they think.

Hawaiian - none of mine are a problem with rigs but - if for instance you had a rig made by K&D, Brommeland, Eric Larsen, Matt Del Fatti, Andrews etc - you would only need to mention the grips so any allowance could be made.

So - from my experience, the CT's are unlikely to foul much if at all - on majority of rigs - but always worth checking.

Yes, I did 'shop out the serial number. Thanks for noticing! ;) I'm quite pleased, and rather proud, about how well it turned out.

:)

Nothing like it!

I had to give up the laser grips though as the recoil broke the switch
I sent them back to the maker and have yet to hear back from them.

Nice guns guys! Cool to be in such good company...

torpid,

Is the finish on yours the 'target grey' (or something of that nature) that I seem to recall reading about? I really like it, looks great.
