I have a Beeman .177 rifle that picked these as it's favorite. Problem being, not sure they are made anymore. Anyone know the status? These were sold in the 1,250 count cardboard box.

I believe a heavier pellet in 10 gr range is out there, but rifle seemed indifferent to those.

Pyramyd Air is still selling the Crosman Premier 7.9gr. But in the 500count tin, not the 1250count box. Yes, they're not the same.

You might also try some other similar weight domed pellets to see how they work. JSB makes a Match Diabolo Exact that's 7.33gr. RWS makes a Superdome that's 8.3gr. H&N and Air Arms have some offerings in the mid 8gr range.

If you have the time and inclination to experiment, here's an option.

I already ran the sampler from Straight Shooters through it, which is how I found out it liked the Crosman lites (and confirmed the notion that air rifles can be "choicey about their eats"........fussy about what gives best accuracy.....even the same guns and ammo). Thought it odd that it would pick the cheapest bulk ammo out there, but groups were about half anything else, including the Crosman heavies. Have a large selection of others, which will all work at close range, but at a distance, hits become hit and miss.

Guess I don't know anything about marketing, but seems odd to take such a well known and sought after product and stop making it or change it to something that no longer works. If that is what they have done.

I have most of a tin of Crosman hollow points I picked up at Walmart once. Group from that at 50 feet was larger than group of the boxed at 50 yards.

Back when I acquired the rifles, I found it amazing what they all liked. Most owners of Beeman R7's did well with either Beeman FTS or JSB Exacts.. Mine like Beeman Trophy.......also a 7.9 grain pellet. Groups easily half of anything else you put through it. Shooting starlings off a bird feeder at 10 yards......you didn't aim at the body.....or even head. I could aim at his eye......and hit pretty close......if he would hold his head still.

Also, back in the day, it seemed the Crosman devotees also sought out different die lot numbers (printed on back of box in large block numbers). Seems the dies used to make the pellets wore out over time and had to be retooled. That alone often changed things. If memory serves, Die #2 was highly sought after. My last box as a big B printed on it.

The boxed Crosman pellets are sort of special, as you note. They are going to be a lot more uniform than what you would get from the same pellets that come in a tin.

The tinned Crosman pellets are the product of all the dies on the line. Not bad quality, just not as uniform as you're going to get from the box.

Sorry, no easy solution--you'll just have to keep trying pellets until you find something your gun likes. Fortunately, there are a lot of domed pellets out there,

I guess you could also contact Crosman and see if they can help.

Adventure Outdoors in Marietta GA sells the 1250 qty cardboard milk carton Crosman 7.4 gr pointed Premier pellets but not the 7.9. Walmart sales the 7.9 gr Premier HP pellet in a metal tin but only a qty of 500. Both these shoot very well in my air rifles.
