I sent my paperwork off for a Curio and Relic license in early December. I haven't heard anything from anyone on my application. How long should I give it before I need to worry? If it doesn't show up soon where would I call to check on it? Is it even possible to check on it?

I got mine a few months back, it took just over two months. Not time to worry yet. Yes, I believe it's possible to check, others have reported calling and finding out it's been delayed or lost in the mail, but give it some more time first.

i remember when i sent in my papers.......i got my license in something like 2.5-3 weeks(crzy fast, i know.)......but then they took another 2 months to send me that huge information packet, still not quite sure why they couldnt send them at the same time......i dunno.....i guess thats what you should expect when dealing with govt agencies...........

Still waiting for mine, ~a month. Got my credit card charged on 12/23/2011. Called them on 1/20/2012. Said it was "in process" or something. They said it can take 60-90 days.

Some folks on another board I'm on got charged on the same day as me. One has theirs already, one was sent to the wrong address.

So, as expected for gov't work.

Just got mine actually. Mailed sometime around the 15th, IIRC. Received it last Wednesday I think. CC charged the 23rd.

Gave them a call today. My check went through on 12/20. I got the whole 60-90 day speech, they said check back on Feb 21. They did give me my pending application id # so I at least know they didn't lose the application. I am hoping my first C&R will expand my growing CZ collection. Do you all know if SOG or any of the other license only sites have the CZ 82, for a better deal than wideners.com has it for?

@wkumatt

They must have put our applications in the same slow pile. :(

I'm interested in the availability of CZ82 on SOG et al, as well. Definitely want to grab another one, or two. I love that gun. Then gotta get some SKS, mosins, maybe a Tok....my wife is gonna hate me!

Really depends. I've got mine 3 times - always a new one as I've been lazy and never renewed in time to salvage the existing one. First two times it took the better part of 90 days. The last time around it was quicker - came in in about 6 weeks.

I wouldn't get worried quite yet.

As to SOG with the CZ-82 vs Wideners - I won't comment on specific prices (since I'm not sure if you can get into any hot water for divulging them), but I will say that they have them for SLIGHTLY cheaper than Wideners, though not by much. I've ordered from both dealers over the years and never had an issue with either of them.

It used to take 2 weeks or less for the C & R renewal. This last time it took 7 weeks, I heard that due to a restructuring some sections are now slower than others now. I guess KY is in the slow lane...

Well still no C&R. But a CZ82 magically appeared at my LGS. :) I liberated it from those cold glass shelves. Very fun shooter and came with a funky swing holster? Has a magnet that holds it up high or flip it and acts like a drop leg holster, never seen one before but it holds pistol fine. Now what to order when the license shows up:confused:

Got mine today. Less than 2 months. Now just gotta see if there's anything left of my tax return after the wife gets to it! ;)

Finally! Got it today. I had decided on a CZ70 for my first purchase as I already have the 82 but found out today its not eligible. I guess my LGS gets one more $15 transfer out of me for that one.

Now that I finally have it I sincerely don't know what I'm gonna use it to buy. I love the CZ's, I've got several already but I don't want one of the tokarev's and I'm not interested in the 50 because I can get the 70 cheaper.

Maybe I should start a new thread but what's the next best after the CZ82 in the C&R world?

Get yourself over to Brownells.com, and get signed up as an FFL. I'm already enjoying discounts from Brownells. Makes the C&R FFL worth it!!

Brownells

I created an account and emailed a copy of the license. I looked for 20 minutes for someplace to enter the info on the website. Did I just miss it? Everyone who's posted about it makes it sound like its somewhere on the webpage.

I had to email customer service. A very nice girl set everything up. I think it took a few minutes for it to propagate throughout the system. I am now good to go.

Love it!!!

They would still run the check even if you were the President's kid. The law is the law, plus who knows what has happend since your last background check. They certainly don't.

Congrats on joining the C&R club, hopefully you like having no money, but plenty of old beautiful firearms

My Brownells catalog just showed up, and I'm not kidding the mail carrier warped my mailbox getting it in there. Wow! I haven't seen one this size since Sears and Roebuck got out of the biz.
