Anybody got a sweet lever gun?
i wanna see some custom lever guns
truck guns
carbines
guide guns
big bores
customized modern levers trying to stay away from the cowboy stuff
you know like the stuff wild west guns does

I wish I had a picture of it, but unfortunately I don't. However my father has an original 1895 Winchester in 405 WCF that was sent to Pachmayr when it was new or thereabouts. The gun has absolutely beautiful custom wood with a wide forarm (the stock forarm was very narrow) a peep site, perfect crisp checkering, and a custom recoil pad. Gorgeous rifle. I've got one of the new production 405's and it's a nice gun, but not even close to my father's original... sorry I know, "this thread means nothing without pics". :)

If I had a decent camera, I'd take a picture of it...

I have a Marlin 336 with XS sights and the XS scout rail.

Well, I don't know if it qualifies as "custom" -

It's a Winchester 1895 takedown in .30-06, barrel cut down to 20", Limbsaver recoil pad, Williams receiver sight and ramped front sight.

I have a Winchester 94 AE that I had rebarreled and restocked(fore end) with button magazine and Half round/half octagon 26" barrel and Lyman tang sight, custom sling mount, chambered in 38-55. I had this done 6 years ago utilizing a middle 90's M94 30-30 carbine with cross bolt safety.
It turned out beautifully and is a fantastic shooter with "its" load. A cast, gaschecked 265 gr. at 1800 FPS at 14' from the muzzle. Bullets are sized .379 and fit the .3775 bore like a well fitted glove.
Actual cash outlay was only about $425.00 including 30-30 and barrel, sights. All the rest of the expense was covered by trading "stuff" that I had rat holed over the years and was never going to use.
It is my favorite lever action center fire rifle, and I have some other nice ones.

Winchester 1895's are one of the few guns that get me hot-and-bothered just thinking about...where could I pick one up, anyone know? I checked the Winchester site, and all of theirs were engraved :barf:

I'm having Ben Forkin rebarrel and trick out a beater Mod. 71 Winchester.
Will be in .450 Alaskan, barrel band (for sling swivel) forward of mag tube, 22" PacNor barrel, a legitimate (shotgun) recoil pad, "crossbolt" in stock (to prevent splitting).
I'll post photos when completed; June/July?
Guys gotta have something to look forward to..........

Dmazur, I still love the look of that gun. That picture inspired me to get a Lyman peep installed on my new model 95 in 405 last year. Unfortunately my eye dominance precludes me from really maximizing the potential of the peep, but it's still a much better sight than the factory bucks.

Shadowman, check Gunbroker or Gunsamerica. Availability will depend on what chamber you're looking for, i.e. 270, .06, 405. They've had several reproduction models over the last few years including take-downs like Dmazurs, a case hardened model, the standard grade 1 and the high grade, and a few others. They're out there. Just have to know where to look.

This is a 1927 Winchester 94 carbine. I had a spare barrel cut to 16" and screwed it on. I use it for a rainy weather gun. It lived a long and productive life as a ranch gun in AZ before I got it. Took a little tlc to get it squared away. It still worked OK, but needed a few parts that were wore out or damaged, and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in 40 or 50 years.

Seems to shoot OK. I shot a doe a few years ago with it. First shot dropped her, she raised her head, so I shot her through that. Was about 75 yards off the rimrock of a canyon.

I've got 11 lever actions ranging from .22LR to 12 gauge, some have been modified, but wouldn't call any of them "custom".
