Does anybody know if Whidden Gun Works offers custom pistol dies - in particular, a 9x25 Dillon sizer?

I sent messages to Whidden, Redding & Hornady but have yet to hear back from them.

@burrhead … I did receive an email from Mrs. Whidden stating that they are not set up to do custom pistol-handgun dies. That’s too bad because they certainly seem to be first-rate folks with first-rate offerings.

I also heard back from Redding yesterday & already have a few fire-formed cases in the mail for quote purposes … in their email, they mentioned having never made 9x25 custom dies, hence the aforementioned quote.

Still waiting to hear from Hornady.

I won’t bore you with details of the ongoing, Dillon 9x25 die set debacle which is approaching 14-months, with no resolution in sight … at this stage of the game, $200-plus for a functional die is a non-issue.

Yeah let us know what Redding says. I would love to know.
On a side note, you must be really attached to that pistol haha.

It's not that I'm attached to the pistol but rather, the Bar-Sto barrel & 1000-plus new Double-Tap (Starline) brass cases.

Today, I spoke with Dillon & also heard back from both, Redding & Hornady.

Dillon still has no ETA for 9x25 dies - their (2) suppliers have yet to get around fabricating (9x25) carbide rings.

Redding, has never done anything 9x25 custom die-related & wants $450 for the setup fee, dies & shipping. (lead time, 16 weeks)

Hornady, who has manufactured two sets of 9x25 custom dies, quoted me a price @ $231 + shipping. (same lead time as Redding)

Lee's setup fee is now up to $200, plus $56.98 for the dies + shipping.

I'll probably opt for Hornady dies, but will wait awhile longer in hopes of hearing from Dillon, who is warrantying the defective set.

Custom pistol dies? Your barrel and brass won’t know which dies they were loaded with.

You might check out Brian Enos’s forum. Maybe someone has a set they would part with. Good luck. (forums.brianenose.com)

OP you may try contacting the folks at CH4D. They will also make custom dies.
I spoke with them a few weeks back & though they are highly regarded & certainly the most economical, they won’t be getting around to making 9x25 dies until “very late-2024 or early- 2025”.

My friend & FFL, an old head reoading savant, suggested I contact Huntington Dies, but lo & behold, they have closed their doors.

🤔?!

Excellent idea, the Enos Forum suggestion … thanks!

In stock. https://www.strobl.cz/en/reloading-...7273152/9x25-dillon-ch4d-reloading-dies_p2747

just not in this country.

Might get something out of this thread.

These guys have loaded ammunition.

@jmorris - thank you. I actually stumbled onto Strobl while searching a couple weeks back & put them on the back burner, as the US was not listed as a shipping destination. I just sent them an email. Also, I appreciate the reloading-DT Ammo links. I did purchase & fire a box of 9x25 DTs & hence, the ongoing fascination with the 9x25 - those fire-formed DT cases (or reamer spec template) are what the custom die-makers request in order to fabricate a sizer. Concerning the use of a 357 Sig sizer, with those spent DT cases, Irv Stone (Bar-Sto) determined that my particular 9x25 Dillon-made sizer was actually a 357 Sig die - and he strongly admonished me not to use it with his barrel, as the shoulder dimensions are not the same. So, between my experience with the Dillon sizer & the fact that there is (was!) frequent mention of the Dillon 9x25 expander die being less that ideal (many 9x25 reloaders resorted to an RCBS 9mm exp' die), I am leary of that warrantied replacement die set that I have been waiting seemingly forever for. As far a crimping the 9x25 goes, I will use a 10mm Lee FCD body w/a 9mm FCD crimp sleeve.

@dh1633pm - thank you. I have spoken with CH & was told that they won't be getting around to making 9x25 dies until sometime around late-2024 or early-'25.

@BrotherMaynard - thank you. I am unfamiliar with NOE, but just like Redding, I would guess that a one-of 10mm sizer altered to 9x25 might be a costly(ier) affair.
