I have a Savage 111 FCXP3 in 30-06. It comes from the factory with the black synthetic lightweight stock. Is there a way you can remove all the gun parts (barrel, action, etc) from the stock and put them in to something heavier, like wood, or more sniper looking with a bipod? if its possible, where could you buy the new stock, are there websites that sell them?

is this something a gunsmith has to do or is it just a matter of unscrewing some things and then screwing them back in on the new stock?

Just screw two screws out, and put it in a new stock. Screw torque is important. You can get a B&C Duramaxx for about $100, and a bipod for about $60. Midway sells them. Lots of info on Savageshooters.com. B&C also makes a more tactical looking stock, they're more expensive, but I have a couple of them too. Or you can get one of those high dollar brands with the recogizable names.....

Call and make sure that the stock will fit the CENTERFEED savage action.
B&C only make 1 stock to fit the centerfeed at this time.
