Sure you could. It'll look funny though, unless you find a way to move the sling slot and endcap. Plus the top handguard has a sheetmetal endcap of it's own. Other than that, the stocks are identical.
For laughs, look up pics of the opposite- an M91 or 91/30 in an M44 stock. It's actually kinda cool in it's own way.
