I am gonna disagree a little with the above even if I have to wait for my knife longer.:)
You have a "sawed off " there as the weapon which by definition is a "fighting shot gun" as even for say quail, where it might work that wuz not it's purpose on construction.
You needed training from the get go by somebody like Louis Awerbuck. He would have you use the sight advantage just as if it was a pistol, from any distance you can mount the gun. Using the old API "flash sight picture" you either have a Ghost ring and a front sight or open front sight. The ghost ring is to hold your head down on the proper sight plane, but on a shotgun good , reliable work can be done with an open sight. For this the bead is the least desireble shape because of its index is affected by backlighting direction. A bead CAN be used. You may have a good thing going with yours if you use the top "edge" (no reference edge to a sphere = not so good) to "float" the point you want to destroy. If you keep your cheek in contact with the stock at a reference point it might work . :D

I also want to add; Yes you are responsible for every single pellets destination. Are you always gonna be able to control that in a fight? Well you do the best you can by situational awareness of back stop at moment of discharge first, then using correctly your aiming tools and also by knowing the ballistic path of your load. Fighting isn't easy even with a "scatter gun" but in the real world the pellet spread DOES help a great deal in getting lead into the moving target. If you think this is not an advantage because you are an expert shot under stress then I reccomend slugs !
