Many years ago I built, and shot, several BP kits. The most common brand back then (around 1970-75) was CVA. These kits are, of course, no longer available. Some time later I packed away the tools and guns and went out to make my fortune in the world.

Having recently retired to the house on the lake in the woods, I started upacking some of those old friends and found that I had started, and not finished, a CVA 12 ga double barrel shotgun. I had carefully preserved the unfinished kit including oiling and wrapping the metal parts. However, I can't find the locks. :banghead: I still have hopes of finding them, but I'd sure appreciate a push in the right direction in case I don't. Anyone have any idea how to find some new locks for that kit?

Have you checked with CVA to see if they have any laying around? I'm sure they continued to offer service for those guns long after they discontinued them, so they might still have some parts left.

CVA & L&R

CVA does indeed support even kits that are 30 years old if they can. I got a phone number from their web site and will call them Monday.

Thanks for the suggestion about L&R; unfortunately I need both a right and left hand lock (it's a double barrel shotgun) and they don't make a left hand version in the CVA replacement. Their custom shotgun locks would require some significant inletting changes - beyond my skills.

Missing Locks Replaced

Sent an email to CVA's customer support office. They replied immediately suggesting that I contact Deer Creek with a phone number. I reached them today and they do indeed have the locks. A little more expensive than they were originally (1983: $25 each, now: $65 each), but hey, they are the only game in town. They are on their way.

Thanks,
