Thinking about getting a cx4 in 45 but after googleing it I am seeing a lot of problems concerning its sturdiness and bad customer service from beretta, also lack of parts should they be needed.I shoot almost every day[I'm retired] and don't want to purchase a gun that won't hold up to daily use.Need advice from cx4 owners please.

Mine has been rock solid. My only complaint is the lack of hi-cap .45 mags.

Parts are easy to come by from the Beretta site, but unresponsive CS and Beretta are essentially synonymous. It's kind of what you buy into when you join the Beretta club. :)

If I had it to do over again I'd buy the 9mm version.

Curious as to some first hand experience. I want a carbine next and I'm going back and forth between this and the Sub 2k.

After experience with the Keltec, Beretta, and the Hi-Point, my top 2 would be the CX4 or the Hi-Point in 9mm. The HP is cheaper, but the CX can use big mags. Everything else is about equal between the two.

The Cx4 Storm has a plastic hammer and trigger. They work fine but can be rough. Smooth with fine grit sandpaper or install a stainless hammer and adjustable trigger from SierraPapa.

My wife would be very upset if I got rid of ours (9mm).

The Beretta is a nice carbine, but they are expensive. You can get a Hi Point 995TS and a SUB 2000 and have money left over for some ammo and an extra mag or two.

I have owned all three, I sold the Beretta to a friend, and it has performed flawlessly for me and him, but then, so have my Hi Point and SUB 2000. :D

which one

OK,I'm sold. After reading the above info and all the other info I googled about the cx4 I decided to purchase one.The question now is what caliber.I am not concerned about mag capacity.I prefer the 45 acp because my other 4 guns shoot 45acp.I have a 35 gal trash bucket filled with 45acp brass. Will the cx4 handle lead reloads without problems? How about 45 super? The 40 is out just because I don't like that caliber [my own reasons] so it's between the 9 and 45.Are they equal in reliability?

A 9mm coming out of a 16in barrel at a faster velocity (than the .45) with a higher capacity would be the choice for me. ;)

115gr +P+ 9mm hollow points clock ~1640fps out of the 16 inch barrel. That should approach the terminal performance of the M-1 carbine in my book.

Mine has been fine w/reloads.

How about 45 super?

A while ago I searched the old Beretta tech site about this and IIRC the official response was no. But unofficially some people had changed springs and were using +p, but I don't recall 45 Super in specific. With the blow-back design I'd refrain from running really hot loads without modification.

Are they equal in reliability?

All things being equal, I'd have to say yes.

I reload 45acp but 9mm ammo is pretty cheap. If I got the 9mm model I would not reload for it.How does the cx4 handle the russian steel case ammo?

Never shot any...but might be okay for plinking.

You can find reasonable deals (bulk) on various +P loads.
