OK, I know this was incredibly stupid of me, after taking my 1858 to pieces (completely) to give it a deep clean, I cannot seem to remember how the cylinder pin goes in. I know I’ve seen it so many times, and I should have noted all these things before pulling it to bits but I just cannot remember.

Does the flat piece on the pin face down (which I think it does) or face up?

Regards,

Andrew

all screws go in fine, thanks for the warning though. I just wanted to make sure, and what better place to ask than here :) THR has been a goldmine of knowledge for me since starting my association with black powder.

Thanks for the confirmation.

Andrew

Make sure you use natural lubes and NO petroleum based lubes. I use Olive Oil(virgin or whatever, but NOT mixed with anything!) on the internals and the cylinder pin and Bore Butter over the balls in the chambers as lube. I can get 5 stages out of my BP guns before they start to bind up. Colts or Remy's!
