Sure, if you plan on shooting with a scope get the American, if you like iron sights then the Lux is the way to go. Either way they are both excellent rifles.

Check out Rimfire central for all kinds of info on these rifles.

+1 - I have the American and its as good as everyone said! Great .22 for the money and mine has some very nice wood and metal work also. It has already shot groups in the .3's at 50 yards with Wolf MT.

Great 22 extremely accurate. Mine has a beautiful stock as well. It feels like my CZ550 the big gun feel not a toy 22 feel. They are the best 22 bolt action for the money.

My Lux is my "go to" .22 rifle.

I lucked into a 452-ZKM (now called a Lux?) for $175 when looking for a small game rifle.
Roc1 is right - best .22 for the money, and better than many costing more. Before I chopped my barrel down it was a magic wand - 0.5" at 50yds offhand w/ irons. That's how wonderful it was in my hands. (only did that once, mind you).

Posters here have good recs: Lux for irons (best irons on any factory .22 these days by FAR) or American for a scope.

I had it out yesterday, and with the shorter barrel and M1 style front sight it feels like a little military bunny carbine.

Adjustable trigger, .22LR thru .17HMR, LH, RH, solid scope grooves, double-adjustable sights... What's not to love?

I gotta say that of the CZ 452 Americans and CZ 452 Lux models, all in .22LR, the Lux rifles have been consistently more accurate. Seems as if CZ puts in a little more attention to detail when it comes to the Lux.

Just my experience.

You can of course mount a scope on the Lux as easily as on the American.

Yes, you can but you had better have a pretty long neck. That hogs-back stock was designed with iron sights in mind. :D

To me............if you want to mount a scope, then you have a good excuse to buy another CZ. ;)

One model that shouldn't be overlooked is the Full stock.

Sure, but I see plenty of Lux rifles with scopes.

All I'm saying is that the Lux seem to be more accurate than the Americans that I've come across.

whichever you get definately go to rimfirecentral. Much can be done to the trigger with a kit advertised there(do a little searching). There is an overtravel mod that either with soldering, jbweld or hammering can get rid of all of it. Annnnd If you like ghost ring sites for iron sites there is a guy that sells that too. The sights are probably the best I have used for iron sites once you figure out what ammo matches the trajectory calibration. My ultra lux can hit 300m on a calm day. (within reason, like min of old propane tank.) Nothing like the astonishment of the range goers when you ping the tank with an ironsited 22lr.

'edit:the "super exclusive" is the model with 300m settings on the sites and like a 29in barrel, the regular lux model I think goes out to 200m.

This one isnt mine but the same model...it rocks http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=133318&highlight=super+exclusive

CZ also make a really nice mannlicher carbine version I almost bought but a good friend wanted it, *and he didnt have do justify yet another gun to the wife, some day I will talk him out of that rifle.

My Lux is definitely my favorite but I own or have owned a Lux, American, F/S, Varmint, and a Scout and they are all pretty much as accurate once you find out what kind of ammo they prefer.

My 452 pictured above went, with CCI Velocitors, from 1325fps with the 24" barrel to 1410fps with the 20.5" barrel. The super-long 29" one is goofy for .22LR - you can sight a lot further, but your bullets will drop much sooner. If you get an American or plan to scope it, a shorter barrel is a great idea.

I bought my first Bruno back in the 1960s and paid $18 dollars for it with a box of shells thrown in the deal. They still look the same just different model numbers and shoot well.
