I made the mistake of stopping in at a local gunshop "just to look around" and ended up coming home with a shiney new CZ-40P. For those not familliar with this model it`s a limited production hybrid of a CZ-40 slide assy. on a PO-1 compact alloy frame. As soon as I picked it up I knew it was a must buy. The fit and finish are very good. I`ve heard the triggers on some 40Ps weren`t as good as CZs usually are but this one is pretty good. Not as good as my 75B but I`m betting it`ll smooth out even more like the 75B did. I was pleasantly suprised to find that it included 2 plastic snap caps with replacable hard rubber "primers". Nice touch CZ! I haven`t had a chance to shoot it yet but the factory test target shows just over 3" ar 25m. My 75B showed about the same but shot better after it was broken in. I`m hoping this one will too. The one thing that bugged me about the gun was the chunky light rail. CZs are generally slim and svelt. I can`t see any reason to make them thicker...*unless* you have a light to mount to it...so I bought a Streamlight M-3 with it. :D So far I love this combo. If all works 100% it`ll probably displace my 75B as my house gun. Pop the light off and slap in a Promag flush fit mag as I can easily CCW it too. :) More to come after I get some ammo through it. Congrats on the new CZ. I just bought my son his first pistol- s P01, and I can't wait for him to come down for his summer visit so we can both try it out.

One thing: I think your dealer might have had his hand in the SnapCap jar- mine came with *5* snap caps.

The budget priced CZ40Ps are CZUB's interim response to the demand for
a compact .40. The RAMI in .40 will cost you much more. should I not have
my cherished P-01, I'd buy a 40P.

Just handling (fondling?) this thing I can`t get over how well it fits my hands or how well it points. The sight just seem to lock on target of their own accord. :) I still wish CZ would bring out a .40 PCR (the never produced .40 Carry/Melt?). The 40P is light and well balanced but it`s a lot thicker through the frame and especially muzzle than the 75. The RAMI is nice but I can`t warm up to the CZ-40 style grip frame. Marcus

Got to wring the 40P out a little bit at the range today. I had one failure to feed on the second mag,a light tap on the back if the slide put it fully into battery. No other problems. :) I was having a terrible day, drank two big mugs of coffee this morning thinking it would be raining all day but it cleared up and I went anyway. That much coffee before I shoot it almost always instant death for my marksmanship. My Buckmark served as a control. I can shoot 2" or less with it on a good day. Today I was shooting between 3"-4" at 25yds. :( . I did about the same with my 75B which will shoot well under 3" most of the time. The new 40P was right on par with the 75B,the last 10 shot group measuring just over 3". The DA pull is a bit creepy but it`s smoothing out the more I shoot/dry fire it. It`s a fairly short pull because the decocker starts it at half cock (I carry my 75B at half cock as well). In quick DA drills I was able to keep all shots on a paper plate at 25yds. which I was pretty pleased with for the first outting. The SA pull is a lot like a 2 stage military trigger. There`s some creep just before the letoff that lets you stage the trigger, then a pretty nice break at around 3.5lbs. The recoil was more noticable than the all steel 9mm 75B but it wasn`t much more and it was still very controlable. It has much less muzzle flip than my S&W 4053. The 40P really shines in rapid shooting and fast target engagement! It was easy to keep them all on a paper plate at 25yds. even shooting at a fairly rapid pace. I tried a few mags with the M3 on it and you`d hardly know it`s there, nice. I can`t wait to get some more rounds through it when I don`t have the caffine shakes. ;) Marcus

Don`t wait too long guys, they only made like 1500 of these puppies and they`re goin fast. The dealer I bought it from had three. Two sold in the first week or so and I got the last (whew!). He ordered 3 more several weeks ago and the ystill haven`t come in.... Marcus
