Its a strange world out there AINT IT!
A gun that Colt designed and contracted CZ to build for them..right before they almost/did go bankrupt....CZ takes over the design from Colt and makes the Z40 DAO gun into a CZ40B Trad. DA gun and it gets nominated for Guns and Ammo's "Gun of the Year"...pretty nice atta boy!
The design is pretty damn nice in actuality. 1911 style grip with a double stack mag....11 rnds of 40 S&W. Nice Novak style sights, Alloy frame with the Steel slide running inside the frame...ala standard CZ design. Nice CZ style internals, trigger mech and etc.....Standard Cond 1 capable safety.
Its got alot going for it.....but it fell on its face.....Why? Bad timing? To much a mix of 1911 "wanna be" style and CZ in one gun? Did it just suck and all of the people who have them and love them and G&A are on CRACK? (Ya I know
, but Im making a point! ) Was it a Colt that wasnt enough Colt, or a CZ that wasnt enough CZ?
Its one of those enigmatic situations that makes you go hmmmmmmmmm?
Personally If I wanted a 40, Ive shot the guns and like them alot. I just may get one in the future if its meant to be....who knows.
To all who have them....love em, shoot em and read em bed time stories.
Shoot well.............
