I must say I am very impressed with my most recent purchase. I bought a CZ 527 Varmint Kevlar and broke it in at the range yesterday. At 100 yards it was shooting Winchester 45 JHP in 3/4 inch groups. At 200 it was doing under 2 inch groups. This is the only ammo I have tested in it so far but I am looking forward to loading some rounds for it and seeing what it can really do. I found the rifle to be very comfortable to shoot not that it has much recoil but the stock just really felt good. The most impressive feature is the single set trigger. When set the pull is about 10 to 12 ounces and when used as a standard trigger it is between 4 to 5 lbs. It is fully adjustable for pull weight and trigger travel before and after discharge.

Does anyone else have any experience with these and if so what do you think of them.

My dad has one in 7.62X39 and I really like his, the only thing is that his will not shoot military ammo well at all. He has to use the longer heavier bullets to get good accuracy out of his rifle.

I am interested in the Varmint Kevlar .223 rifle very much but, what is the barrel twist rate? Anything other than 1:7 or 1:9 is a turn off for me.

The .223 twist Rate is 1/9. I only hunt varmints with it so a lower twist would be fine for me but it shoots my 45 grain JHP's pretty darn nice.

I just ordered a Nikon Buckmaster 6-18 x 40 Target Dot Scope for it. Can't wait to get it and sight it in.

Hello:

I've got one with the laminate stock and love it. When I first got it, I shot Winchester White Box 45 grain bullets and like you shot 1/2-3/4 inch groups. The trouble I found with the WWB is that it wasn't very consistent. The next box was lucky to give me an inch group. The hot ticket is to load your own. I've been using Lapua brass, Sierra and Hornady bullets and do at least partial benchrest prep of the loads. Typically, just about all my reloads will give at least 3/4" groups on even a bad day. Two or three particular loads consistently give me groups in the .400s, the very best being a .251. A 40 grain Sierra with H 335 gave me a 1/2" group with 4 rounds at 200 yds. and then the good ole Kansas wind sent the 5th shot off about an inch.

Sidebar... for those CZ 452 fans, CZ's website shows that supposedly in Sep of this year, they're putting out the 453 in certain variants, which is a 452 with the set trigger of the 527/550, and a couple other differences to the 452..I can't wait, and will get one if they offer a 453 Varmint in .17 HMR.
