CZ 550 American Scope Rings?

A friend of mine recently passed away and I inherited his almost brand
new CZ 550 American bolt-action rifle (in 6.5x55 Swedish) topped with
a Leupold VX-I scope in CZ factory rings.

Thing is, the rings are medium(?) height which are too high for me and
they also have a "tacticool" matte black finish which looks stupid, as the
rifle is beautifully gloss blued as is the scope.

I've done some searching around on the Internet but all I could find were
mid or high mount CZ style rings, mostly in matte black.

Anybody know where I can find some CZ proprietary style, LOW mount,
GLOSS black 1" rings? Any brand will do.

Please be aware that with LOW rings when you open action, handle may hit your scope. I had this problem on my CZ452. When I got my CZ 550, it came with MEDIUM rings and handle clears bareley - 1/6" or 1/8". I use Bushnell 3-9x40 scope on my CZ 550.

Just measured the clearance with the bolt open - approximately .175"
between the bolt handle and the ocular bell (Leupold VX-I).

Dunno how much less it would be with low mount rings but I'd be willing
to at least give it a try, to get the scope mounted lower (and get them in
gloss black).

Sent an email to CZ-USA so we'll see what they say, but their web site
only shows mid and high mount factory rings.

Talley makes some very nice rings for CZs. I have them on my 452 American as well as on my Sako, Tika and Ultra Light Arms bolt actions.

CZs do have a relatively high bolt throw so I'd recommend calling Talley and getting their input before you order.

I ordered a set of low gloss CZ 550 / Brno 600 rings from England. It wasn't cheap but I couldn't find another set. The manufacturer is Hilver, I believe. I don't see the ad up on ebay anymore, but you might contact the vendor to see if they have any available. Their handle is briarhouse1.

Warne also makes some good rings. I have seen them for the CZ's. I have a few sets on my Tikkas.

I have the same rifle.

I got a set of Warne mediums and they clear a VX II by about 1/8th of an inch. Any lower and you will probably have clearance issues.

One thing I would advise you on is not to get the talley permanent mount rings. They are a royal pita to install and get set up right. The vertical split is the worst ring design I have ever dealt with.

I use the Lightweight One Piece Alloy Mounts. They are split horizontally and include the base in the lower half. here's a link to the website picture.
