Went to LGS as gun show was cancelled [ no reason ? ] and found a CZ 527 on the shelf that had a very minor ding on stock.

left store with it for 659.00 [ plus tax,of course ].

So now I am waiting for a few moments to take her to the range to see how she does w/ irons.

Sadly it did NOT come with rings,so that might be another expense, unless I love it w/o scope.

Been looking for one for over a year :banghead:

You will love the 527 with open sights.
I had to make a friend an adjustable rear sight for his because he prefers the Iron sights to the scope he had on it.

I think it's one of those things where you like it more after you handle it more. GB is great, but you can't touch it before you buy it. I know I was that way with at least half of my CZ stable. :)

Yeah, don't bother with rings right now. I started with irons, tried the red dot, got a 3-9x scope, tried a fixed 4x and now back to irons.

The little rifle just begs to be used with irons. Shoulders very quick and BAM the sight picture is right there. Right now I'm considering a HI-VIZ front sight.

Two things. If Wolf ammo doesn't reliably light off, call CZ and they'll send you a new firing pin spring that is a bit stronger. Also take apart the mags and file down the sharp burr where the hole is. Mine was enough to catch on the round's case head, jamming up the action.

The 527M in 7.62x39mm is an outstanding deer carbine for me. Light, reasonably powerful for my ranges that I hunt at, and very accurate.

@ chris in va

Thank you especially = and thank all y'all for the valuable info.

this is about the same size and weight as the Mossberg MVP [ in 5.56 ] that I bought,NOW all that ammo is going to good hunting and target use = since the gov. of this state had us get rid of the AR's & AK's :cuss:.

I would really like to put a rear mounted peep on the CZ as that will gove me more eye relief and I LOVE peep sights.

anyone have any luck trying that setup ?.

While I dont have a CZ 527 in 7.62 x 39, I do have a Ruger 77 Compact in 7.62 x 39 which is very comparable. Shoots sub -MOA. Hunted with it the first time this year. 7 shots - 4 deer, 2 pigs and 1 coyote. Great little combo. Using handloads with 123 gr Barnes TSX bullets.

BTW - I would suggest that you do put a scope on it.

Deer & hog

Other than LOTS of target shooting to see how far I can stretch it,this will be for deer & hog's .

Possibly a yote or 2 if we get out soon .

I had cataract surgery with implants last year and my 66 year old eyes do just fine now, fact is I shoot better now than when I was LEO and did teach shooting.

So the scope would be nice,BUT I have been a fan of iron for mant decades as it has never failed my with slight bumps = as scopes do.

Pics should show the rear sight of the CZ [ lower rifle ] to be far forward of where a peep should be.

peep sight

Just found a company that makes a peep that fits the dovetail on the CZ.

Its inbound and was 90.00,but if I love it = cheaper than a scope mount & scope.

If not,its a backup for the scope if & when it takes a dump.

btw = am I the only one that see's this as a better choice for a light guide/scout gun, over the Ruger Scout ? [ yes I have one ].

sorry but forgot to add.

NewEnglandCustomGun.com = where I ordered the sight from.

I've got the 527 in .223 and the little fellow thinks its a varmint rifle. Very accurate, but most CZ rifles seem to suffer from that delusion even my friend's .416 Rigby.

I'm interested in hearing how you like the NECG peep sight.

I've got the Ruger Scout and I like it better than the CZ but given .30 caliber cartridges they both could pretty much fill the same niche. I'd love to see the 527 Carbine in 6.8 SPC.

The 527M in .223 is a fantastic carbine. Accurate with irons and basically no recoil worth mentioning. 5-rd detachable mag in a bolt rifle that's light, accurate, and takes a common and plentiful cartridge....whats not to like about that.

I got my CZ 527 with anticipation of firing up loads of cheap Russkie ammo. I did that, but being a reloader and a tinkerer, I came to the conclusion that anything that shoots crappy ammo that well deserves to be reloaded for and in this instance, cast for. This little gun is perfectly able to send a 165 gr. cast bullet down the tube at 2350fps more accurately than most hand loads. here is the end result. A soft pointed NOE 312 155 going 2350fps. Got him right at 175 yards. I love it's weight and balance more than anything. All this from a lever action nut.

Decisive kill. He went 20 yards

I have the CZ 527 Carbine. Perfect rifle with the NECG Peep sight. Handles perfect, lay your head down on the butt stock and you are right on lined up perfectly with the sights. Perfect.

My plan was to put a detachable, lightweight, low power scope on it with the NEGC back iron sight. Ended up wit the Weaver V3 over the Leopold 2.5 or 1 x 4 for better field of view and it just plain looks better to my eyes. In the light weight low power scope category under 10 oz there is really nothing else available.

I am embarrassed to say how much I have spent trying to do this. started with the factory rings and modified bolt. Waaaay too high. I have tried a Weaver rail setup with a XS low backup iron sight and ultra low rings. Waaay to high. Finally used the lowest quick detach 527 rings Warne made, waaaay too high. Permanent mount rings defeat my purpose but I doubt any are made low enough to work properly anyway.

Impossible for any scope to lay low enough to have perfect cheek weld with the factory carbine stock and factory modified bolt. Impossible.

I have not seen one picture of a scope mounted low enough on a 527 factory carbine stock to allow repeatable and immediate natural cheek weld.

My idea was for this to be my all around go too rifle. Now it is just a handy bolt action carbine with open sights.

If anyone has truly found a scope setup that works with perfect cheek weld please let me know.

They do not make the 527 in 7.62 x 39 in left hand. To buy a left hand .223 and convert it to 7.62 is cost prohibitive. Can't get a scope to work properly on the carbine stock and have tried and researched many things. I had hopes for the 527, but the Ruger Gunsite is still my go to rifle.

please note

I already own the

Ruger Scout in .308/7.62 X 51

Mossberg MVP in .223/5.56 X 45

CZ 7.62 X 39

I see the CZ as the best of both worlds,if you keep it to reasonable ranges

It is LIGHT and fast and 30 caliber, but pleasant to shoot.

the Ruger is heavy and not near as fast, and recoil is ok - but not as much fun as the CZ.

IF there is a scope in the future of the CZ,it will have to be like the carbine = light & fast.

Seinsrich, nice setup but that scope would be way too high for me to have natural cheek weld and the scope sites line up as naturally.

No disagreements on the CZ527 being handier and lighter than the RGS.

With iron sights, the CZ wins hands down over the Ruger Gunsite for close in hunting out to 150 yards or so.

Problem with mine it is right hand. only way to get it left handed is to order a 223 left hand, change barrels and open the .223 bolt face up. Too much money.

Plus, then someone has to figure out is ANY scope will work with the CS carbine stock and bolt hand.

527 Carbine FTW

.
All I've done is punch paper with mine, but I continue, so that one day when I want to use it varmintin' and/or putting meat in camp, I'll be ready. Owned this one for three years.

FSJeeper

I have the CZ 527 Carbine. Perfect rifle with the NECG Peep sight. Handles perfect, lay your head down on the butt stock and you are right on lined up perfectly with the sights. Perfect.

I was about to try to scope it w/ a 2-7X-ish, $200 Leupold in CZ rings (that came w/ the gun), but I also dig peep sights.

THANK YOU, FSJeeper, for sharing your hard work and hard-earned-and-spent dollars with us. lol. Really. You are the man. :)

i put a 2x7 leupold rimfire scope on my CZ527 and it is a perfect match for me,low enough for good cheek weld for me and high enough for the bolt handle, the rings are CZ,s picked up in a trade. eastbank.
