cz 75 16 round magazine or 17 round magazine

I was poking around for my cz 75 sp 01 today and saw that mec gar makes both a 16 round magazine and a 17 rounder. the price is nearly identical on both so I have to ask is there really a bennifit to one over the other (aside from the one round)?

The base plate is the only difference I think, the 16rd is flush fitting and the 17rd extends just a tad. Mec-gar also has a 19rd mag for the different CZ 75 versions. Is this a carry gun?Range only? Competition?

range gun first, carry gun second. I've found pics of my gun (cz 75 sp 01) with a 17 rounder in them and the fit flush still, they just have a thicker base pad as you mentioned.

aside from aesthetics I can't find a serious difference between them other than the one round.

Base plate is the only difference the 17 rounder sticks out a little.

Ocelot, just wait for the panic to die down.

The difference is that the 17-round mag's body is slightly longer than the 16. Take the baseplates off both mags and test fit and the 17 sticks out about...1/8" more than the 16. The plastic base plate just takes up that little gap.

Thanks for the explaination TheGloriousTachikoma, as far as being patient goes though, I've been procrastinating in buying new mags (the 18 rounders it came with stick out to far for ccw) for months now. I just decided to order them before I fly down to arizona not taking into account recent events, guess I have little choice but to wait it out.
