I am on the market for a new 9mm handgun. Recently at a local gun store I had the chance to handle a CZ 75 Compact. It felt like a glove - all the controls were in just the right place. However, I am not very thrilled with giving up extra barrel length (sight radius and muzzle velocity). How does the grip and location of the controls on a standard CZ 75B compare to those on the compact? If they are the same I will definatly be ordering a standard model.

As a side note, where is the best place to order a CZ 75B online?

I have 2 CZ handguns, but as one is an SA (safety) and the other a P-01 (decocker) I don't think I can address your question about similarity of controls.

J. & G. Sales is having an inventory reduction sale on CZ's right now, with the CZ 75B going for about $370. That's as good a price as I know of, being about $50 less than others I've seen lately. Good luck!

The only difference is the Compact has a slightly shorter grip frame and the shorter slide/barrel. All controls are the same as that portion of the frame is the same in both models.

You didn't say if the compact was a true Compact or a PCR/P 01.
Shorter grip frame either way.

It may not be important to you but the Compacts/PCRs/P 01s take their 13 rnd mags but also all the high cap units that fit the full sized 75/85 series units. They just stick out a little.

The full size units cannot use mags made for the shorter gripped pistols.

BTW
My PCR is actually a little more accurate than my full size 75B contract pistol.
Counter intuitive but still true in this one instance I know of.
Both are very accurate.

Not really counter-intuitive.

Given a good barrel, barrel to slide fit, trigger and, to a lesser extent, slide to frame fit account for most of the accuracy component in a handgun.

A shorter barrel is not, innately, less accurate than a longer one. The longer sight radius sometimes just makes it easier to shoot the bigger gun well. Ditto a good trigger. (A good trigger doesn't make the gun more accurate; it just makes it easier for the shooter to be more accurate with that gun.)

My CZ 75 PO1 is extremely accurate, and so was the CZ75 Compact i had several years ago. Don't worry about a barrel inch - you won't be able to tell the differance!

Well Ill see if I can explain this.....the compact grip has the controls in the same place as the large gun. But the shorter grip is gonna make them feel like they are in a different place than on the fullsize gun. The larger grip lets most people get a lower grip on the fullsize gun and changes the relation of the controls.
Its not alot of difference for most.......but its enough of a change that some people prefer the other gun......which ever "the gun" is that fits them the best.
Shoot well.
