Thanks Walt for the ifo. on the 85 c. I just got a 75 compact that I plan to cary conceiled when I get more used to it.

Thanks for all the info guys - I think that eventually I will have one of each, so it may just be a question of which first!!!

As an aside - does anyone know where I can find more info on the CZ lineup?

Both CZ75 and HP fit in my hand like a glove. reliablity and accuracy for both are superb.
but with CZ, i can have a good holster (HBE), extra 15 round mag, and some ammos for same price....

While I'll readily admit that the price for a CZ is lower than the BHP, mags are everywhere, and they're cheap. You can get mec-gar 15-rounders for $20.

On top of that, I have 2 HBE holsters my my BHP, so that's neither here nor there.

My advice is to go with whatever strikes you -- and one will almost certainly strike you more than the other. Whichever one that is is the one that you must get. It's as simple as that.

To me the CZ is a more rugged built gun. I have shot some brass out of mine that was +p+ and the gun didn't even know it was shooting it. I also shot some 9mm that a friend loaded...and unknown to me he decided to make it faster and just guessed at powder settings. The brass casings were bulged really really bad and the recoil was big, but the CZ was not phazed by the ammko at all. I would be a little more worried about doing that in a gun where the slide is not encompased into the frame.....

Alright, maybe I asked for that one, Marshall! Thanks for the link!

Bikeguy, I wasn't being snide, really. I just didn't know for sure if you meant a link other that that one so, on the off chance you didn't have it, I provided it. ;)

Your welcome.

PS If you're looking to carry one of these pistols, have you handled the CZ PO-1? IMO it's a better feeling gun than the CZ-75 and much smaller. The slides a tad on the blocky side but I think that could be overcome. I'm as impressed with it as I am with any of the CZ pistols!

will NOT reccomend browning handguns except for buckmark ...
had nothing but grief with browning QC on hp's...
highly reccomend CZ's just bought my 3rd CZ 2 weeks ago , 0 problems with their centerfire pistols (rimfire is ammo picky) ...
will NOT reccomend p-35 to anyone except liberals and other semihuman scum ...

Have not held the P-01, but it does look very interesting. What do they run? I see CZ only has then MSRP'd at about 60 bucks more than a 75 B. Also, does it take the same mags as cz 75? I assume it would only accept the compact mags?

Thanks for all your help! I think I'll try and locate on this weekend to give her a feel!

Try selling a used CZ-75B someday and see what you get for it.

I did, and got about $20 more than I paid for mine new. (about 3 years ago)

CZ's are one of those pistols that you KNOW you should buy because the price will wind up going through the roof... then the next thing you know they are selling for $500. I hope not because I want to buy a lot more of them!

In other words: they shoot good, they're cheap, they're very ergonomic, and they should run about $500... SHHHHHH!!!!! No kidding, they are just about the best deal going in auto pistols today.

P.S. - I have no experience with the Hi-Power except handling it extensively at gun shows. I have no idea how they shoot. The CZ just feels WAY better in my hand than the Hi-Power.

I own both. The Cz with the Kadet .22 conversion cost about the same as the HiPower. 2 calibers for the same price is a nice touch.

I've owned two High Power Practicals and they were great pistols. The only problem I had with them was with the grip size. My hands aren't all that big, but I was always re-adjusting the position of the smallish grip in my hand. I'm not a fan of big oversized rubber grips either....so that wasn't an option for me. In retrospect, it was probably not a big deal, but I always wondered what might happen if I did need to quickly employ the pistol and couldn't get a purchase on it. It was one of those lingering doubts in the back of my mind that wouldn't go away....kinda like having a gun that misfires or jams periodically.
I bought my first CZ75 this year and it fits my hand much better. I also like having the DA/SA cocked and locked options. I do find the safety on the CZ a bit awkward to quickly disengage....so I'll likely carry it in DA mode. Bottom line- you can't go wrong with either one- it's simply matter of what works best for you....and even for people like WA LOL!!

What did you pay, when, and when did you sell it? Almost any American firearm will appreciate faster than the CZ.

If you haven't noticed, the prices of CZs are creeping UP, and the resale value of used guns are going up in the same manner.

I haven't seen many US-made guns appreciating... and few of them seem to even keep up with inflation. You may get as much for one today as you paid for it 15-20 years ago, but the dollar today buys a heckuva lot less...

There aren't THAT many US-made guns, any more... and old S&Ws can be had for a song, even the semi-autos. Some Rugers hold values, but they haven't seemed to appreciate. Colts? Any 1911 seems to hold its price if its not a bottom-feeder.

Just about any sized hand can grip the Hi Power. Small hands will not be able to properly grip a cz75. I could barely reach the trigger on a CZ when gripping it properly.
