CZ-75B for IDPA?

Has anyone had experience using a DA/SA CZ-75B in IDPA competition? I looked at a slightly used one recently, and it looked like it had a low bore centerline, the SA trigger felt pretty good and it could be cocked and locked for the first shot. Since the power factor penalty is not bad for 9MM, I wondered if it would be a good choice for SSP? The price was unbelievably low, $299 with 2 extra mags.

Thanks for the quick replies, I think I'm going to take the plunge. As everyone knows, buying the gun is just the beginning....... holster rig, ammo, new sights, etc., etc.

They work just fine. They are accurate and reliable, what else do you need?

If you do this you will have to compete in ESP, not SSP.

You can always start with the hammer down on a loaded chamber and then it is fine for ssp.

I use my CZ75B in IDPA in the SSP class, I don't feel like the double action first shot slows me down, as I'm pretty slow already. $299. is a really good price on a really good gun. Get it, shoot some IDPA and don't look back. Good luck!

That is a good buy. If you like the SA trigger on the 75B, you'll love the SA trigger on the CZ 85 Combat model and it will be better for any competitive shooting I can think of. Minimal overtravel, mags fall out freely, and ambi thumbsafety.

The SA trigger on my CZ Champion is the best trigger I have ever felt, which says a lot with how many guns I've handled.

I shoot a 75B in SSP, shot it all last year, finally made Expert with it. It's a super gun for the class, all steel, very good ergonomics. They come with very heavy mainsprings and a magazine brake, both very easy to fix. I slapped a Wolff 16# mainspring in it, removed the brake from the magazine well so the mags drop free, put some fiberoptic sights on it, and it's as good as anything out there. 300 bones is a steal, go for it!

Good job mentioning the magazine tension on the 75B, I forgot to say anything about it. You will want to adjust or remove it for the mags to drop free. Some people don't realize you can change it.

75b is a great competition gun for both IDPA SSP and USPSA production..

I use mine in IDPA and as a backup to my SP01 in USPSA.
they are pretty good when the get broken in..and can be made superb with a little action work and some new sights..

The only problem with CZ for IDPA SSP is to start hammer down you have to thumb the hammer down on a loaded round, a little dicey and it makes me as a SO a little nervous. But for ESP I've seen some good results.

you hear that concern from people..yet you never hear of any DQs from it happening..

it just takes focus and care when doing so..
