I few weeks ago I posted a nontechnical range report on two new guns that I purchased, a CZ 75B & Beretta 92FS. I found that the 92fs had a much smoother trigger, which in turn allowed me to be more accurate with it. The CZ did get better as more & more rounds were fired, but still not where the 92FS is. Today I went over 1500 (all flawless) rds fired & I'm still not satisfied. I showed the CZ to my local gunsmith & he said that he would be able to smooth it out considerably. My question is should I hold off & just continue firing rds through it or bite the bullet & pay to get the trigger job done? I'm thinking that with over 1500 rds fired it's not going to get much better so pay the man & be done with it. Suggestions/comments. Thanks

Does your local gunsmith have a fair amount experience with with CZs? If not find someone who does. It is possible to scrap out a CZ frame if your gunsmith is not familiar with the in and out of a CZ.

Since all good trigger jobs on a CZ are going to involve changing the hammer spring this is a good place to start. The stock hammer spring is 20 pounds many CZ owners use hammer springs in the 15 LB, 16 LB, or 17 LB, range. The idea is just enough hammer spring to reliably light the primer. Not all CZs will react the same so some experimenting will determine how low you can get away with. The hammer spring will have an effect on mainly the DA pull but is will also reduce SA pull some in the process.
