CZ 75D compact, should I buy?

I've recently been bitten by the CZ bug and picked up a 75B in 9mm. Now I have a friend who wants to sell his 75D compact for ~$400. I shot the pistol and it seems fine although I had one hiccup after the first round where the trigger would not reset. I racked the slide and ejected the round and all was good. I'm having trouble deciding should I buy it or not. It would most likely be for range and the occasional CCW. Help me make a decision, please?

Four bills is a bit steep, but not so bad. I like them well enough, but prefer the alloy frame versions (PCR, P01) over the steel frame compacts.

I would take him up on it. $400 is really not that bad, if it is still in very good condition. (Even Bud's is well over $500 for a new one.) With the hiccup, I might try to negotiate down a little - maybe $350-375?

I have a compact and it is my carry weapon. I have not had any issues with it at all.

The alloy frame version with a decocker and traditional dustcover is the PCR. The alloy frame with a decocker and a rail is called the P01. The Compacts are steel framed.

Two questions , are you familiar enough with the pistol that you know weather or not it's a solid performer?

Second question; the answer to this one is absolutely critical, if you can't answer this with a firm yes DO NOT BUY THE PISTOL.

If you buy the pistol and it turns out to be a complete dud, can you write it off as bad luck and not hold it against your friend? If you can't say yes I'd turn it down.

I have a cz75 pcr (alloy frame & decocker). It was bought new for $479 a few months ago. I like it, so far not one hiccup. I think $400 is a little steep for a used unless you can verify the gun has no issues.

just be aware that the 75D is steel, not alloy. but for the $400 price, it's still a deal. a new alloy P-01 will set you back far more than that.

Actually, the 75D IS the alloy model; it is also called the PCR. The steel compact model is the 75 Compact.

There was a steel framed decocker compact model, sold one when I worked at a gunshop, was probably part of a special run never cataloged again, bummer.
The trigger reset might be a bad spring, get with Mike Eagleshield at CZ-USA about that 1-800-955-4486.
But I would go for it.

And a P-01 is alloy with a rail in 9mm. A P-06 is an alloy frame in .40 caliber, railed.
I like my P-06.

EDIT: $400 is a good price. The local gun store has a P-01 for $530.

Yes, the CZ-75D is the LIGHTWEIGHT ALLOY FRAMED PCR. Buy it. At $400 its still a good deal and its one of the best 9MM's going.

The local gunshop here has a new CZ 75 compact the type that is steel that you can carry cocked and lock he wants $589 which seems high if it was lower I would buy it in a minute.

The 75 D PCR is my daily carry, an awesome carry piece, accurate and dependable, feels great in my hand. I have over 4,000 rounds thru mine and I can see no wear issues at all.

The only issues that I have had with my CZ PCR is a couple of FTF that were ammo related. I have over 5000 rounds through the gun and the only thing I am thinking about is getting a new recoil spring.

I would buy it. I think $400 is a good price depending on the condition. I bought my friend's NIB PCR about a month ago for $360, what he had in it. He got it at an estate auction, never fired it and decided he really didn't need it. I've always wanted a compact 9mm for a CCW because I find my 92FS quite large. I set my sights on a PCR since I saw his that day he came back from the auction and lucky for me, my patience paid off. I doubt you'll ever find another one at your friend's asking price.

$400 is a fair price, It would be a good deal at $350.

The 75D PCR is listed at $546, new, at Buds Guns Shop which usually has pretty good prices. Its out of stock right now. This pistol is in demand for a reason. At $400 used its a very good deal. BUY IT.

Thanks for all the responses! It looks like my CZ collection will be growing. I have decided to pick up the compact. I figure I could always sell it...naw...that never works out. I always end up wanting it back.
